Look Past the Pink Ribbon

Look Past the Pink Ribbon

Oct 12, 2026

Every October pink ribbons appear on things from yogurt lids to fast-food buckets. The gesture is meant to signal support for breast cancer awareness, yet the products underneath the pink ribbon often contain the very things that researchers have linked to elevated cancer risk.

imageNotice how the same companies profit from products containing cancer causing chemicals or ingredients. The pink ribbon starts to function more as marketing and virtue signaling than anything.  They acknowledge that breast cancer is serious, but don't make changes that are fully within their own control.

Awareness is useful only when it leads to clearer choices. The most meaningful support for breast cancer prevention may begin not with the ribbon on the package, but to read what is actually IN the package itself.

Much Love, Lynn
