Hi, I’m Etienne Toussaint! I am a law professor, writer, and creative committed to exploring how we move closer to justice, healing, and belonging in a fractured world.

My work lives at the intersection of critical scholarship and creative expression. Whether I’m writing essays, poetry, or reflections on law, race, and political economy, I’m always chasing one question:

What does it mean to be free, and how do we build a world that honors our dignity?

After years of writing in academic spaces, I began sharing my work more publicly on Substack in August 2024. It is a space where I explore the personal alongside the political, and where ideas can breathe outside the boundaries of footnotes and formal constraints. I write to connect, to witness, and to imagine a more just and humane future.
