Über PortaDash — Keep the Map Running
What drives me:
I'm Lance, a runner and dad in Richmond, VA. PortaDash started with a locked porta-potty at 5:30am, miles from home, during a morning run. Pure panic. Luckily there was one around the corner.
When I told my running group, every single person had the same story — sometimes once a month. Parents with toddlers, contractors on job sites, gig workers on the road. Everyone has been there. Nobody talks about it because it's embarrassing. But that shared vulnerability is exactly what makes it so human.
No app existed for us, so I built one.
What your support means:
PortaDash is entirely self-funded. I pay the server costs — Firesbase database, cloud functions, map infrastructure — out of my own pocket every month. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly keeps the map free, ad-free, and online for the next person who desperately needs it.
You're not just buying me a coffee. You're the reason a parent at a playground doesn't panic, a runner doesn't have to make an embarrassing decision mid-route, and a stranger in a new city finds relief when they need it most.
The bigger dream:
One day I want to publish a book of bathroom emergency stories from around the world — because everybody poops, everybody has a story, and there's real camaraderie in laughing about it together.
Thank you for being part of this ridiculous, wonderful, necessary mission. 🚽
