๐ŸŒŒ The Relics of the Empty Throne ๐ŸŒŒ

Aug 25, 2024

As we know from earlier posts, during the Time of the Empty Throne, the surviving human starship continued to orbit Babylon for hundreds of years. Onboard were a few hundred humans who had chosen not to descend to Babylon but to live out their lives, generation by generation, in orbit as the starship slowly failed around them.

The sight of the ship from Babylonโ€™s surface was rare, and festivals and public holidays began to become a tradition whenever the starship was seen. However, onboard, as resources became scarcer, factions began to fight for power and control. The three largest factions eventually became locked in a stalemate, as none was powerful enough to wrest control from the others.

The three factions each controlled a section of the ship: the engine, the medical units, and the hydroponics centres. Several major battles marked their history, and the weapons of the fallen heroes over time became revered relics. These relics rested in the basilicas of the ship, silent and revered, each with its own story to tell.
