I sought permission to record this scene's singular dissonance.
When the subjects agreed, I asked them to contemplate the vicissitudes of small business - especially slow days.
For pathos, I suggested they fix on a distant point.
Though the result is augmented reality, it differs little from what drew me.
Over time, I evolved a flair for eliciting people's essence in pics.
