Severed Press and I couldn't come to an agreement on the contract for Neptune Scars and the Gravity's Bane trilogy. Therefore, Neptune Scars will likely remain unpublished this calendar year.
While that doesn't mean I'll stop recording it, it does throw a massive wrench into my publishing schedule. Ah, the joys of this business.
Gravity's Bane, of which Neptune Scars is the first book, is a trilogy, meaning three books, and each book will cost a certain amount of money to publish. I won't bore you with the details, but let's say it's a significant amount of money when you don't make much to begin with.
Right now, publishing The Black series and An Ancient Trap takes precedence over putting out Neptune Scars, so it will continue to sit until I can afford to take it to the next level.
So what am I doing now? Glad you asked. I'm editing the draft for The Black: Oceania after doing the same to Evolution just a couple of days ago. With both stories fresh in my mind, and hopefully better for my ministrations, I'll jump back into Extinction. If nothing else, I can get that book finished and in the pipeline. Maybe I'll even be able to record the damned thing if y'all don't mind the occasional bad vocal day.
I took six days to consider my situation with Severed and I think this is the right call regardless of how much it's going to hurt financially. In the long run, I think the works and my pocket book will be better for it.
