A proposito di Patrick Howse
creating Poetry
I just created a Buy Me a Coffee page. I am working on a third collection of poems (the first two - Shadow Cast by Mountains and The Road Taken - are available from Hayloft Books).
Shadow Cast by Mountains grew out of the Iraq War, which I covered as a journalist between 2004 and 2009. It tells the story of the war-scarred world I was born into; my war and how it changed me (mostly for the better); and the wreckage that was left. The Road Taken was written as I became an Irish citizen and moved from England to Germany in the wake of the 2016 Brexit vote. The poems are concerned with identity, and also with environmental issues and justice.
The third volume is provisionally called Reunification Day. It explores (not) belonging, the threats to the natural world, and the dangers posed by prejudice, greed and hatred.
