Eternal Tombs is a game that popped up onto my radar earlier this year, and because of several things I found and really liked (live event coordinators called Tomb Masters and the Triune Studio’s perspective on Microtransactions) I began studying the game more. While it is fun to study a game on paper, nothing beats diving into the game and going hands on. Luckily I’ll be able to go hands on with it tomorrow (March 26) through Thursday March 28. So what is Eternal Tombs? Eternal Tombs is a sandbox style MMORPG with specific developer created content in the form of Tomb Master run events as well as 19 raids at launch. It is an action combat MMORPG, with six classes with magical items and a full magic system, however summoning magic from within yourself is evil and cannot be done. The combat system is complimented by a professions system that allows for further character customization, both with the created of items as well as academic studies.
For people worried about PVP in most sandbox style games, Eternal Tombs is very much a PvE focused game and PvP is always going to be an optional thing and “the main story is not behind it” said Dragnorox (official staff member) on the official discord server.
The monetization of Eternal Tombs is easy: Buy to play, optional sub, no pay to win and no microtransactions. As far as developmental money, there is no kickstarter, there are no founder packs. If, and only if, the free beta cannot be afforded, will Triune Studios open a Patreon page, and that is only a may. They haven’t said they are going to open one, they have said they are leaving that avenue open to them if they need it.
