Hi, I’m Heather King, known online as Thee Owl Queen, a Canadian wildlife photographer, Barred Owl advocate, animal activist, and passionate about Hoot Don’t Shoot. For more than 16 years, I’ve photographed and studied owls in the wild, with a special focus on Barred Owls and their family lives. My work has taken me throughout Ontario, Quebec, and across the United States documenting owls, their habitats, their young, and the incredible bonds between parents and fledglings. Owls changed my life, and now I use my photography, video, advocacy, and voice to help protect theirs. Today, much of my work is focused on stopping the mass killing of Barred Owls in the western United States. Through Hoot Don’t Shoot and Hoot for Justice, I help educate the public about the federal Barred Owl removal program, the importance of habitat protection, and why both Barred Owls and Spotted Owls deserve a future.
