Before Covid-19, Thailand was one of the top most visited countries in the world and now it is completely different. Tourism laws in Thailand are changing unexpectedly due to the ongoing COVID-19 variant. Despite the pandemic, Thailand is still one of the most popular destinations any traveler ever dreamed of going.
Two days before we left California; Thailand announced that they will suspend the test and go scheme and the cut off date to use the test & go pass is set to the 10th of January. We got lucky as our arrival date was on the 8th of January 2022. After we landed in Bangkok, we were transported to our quarantine hotel to quarantine for the night. We also took a PCR test and prayed for negative results. Even with jet lag, we couldn’t sleep in anticipation of knowing our test result. The phone in our hotel room rang. We answered the phone call with nervousness. A ton of weight was lifted from our shoulders after receiving news that our test came out negative. However, the fear doesn’t end there. A 2nd PCR test was required due to the ongoing rates of the omicron variant. After watching a few YouTube videos on how others tested positive on their 2nd PCR test and what they went through, we decided to go out in search of food and eat inside the hotel. We wanted to limit ourselves from engaging with public activity and night life until we are negative on our second test.
