This is a poem about separation and divorce.

They glance towards each other bitterly
And turn their backs.
Years later they will wonder
From where did they bring these childish antics?
The papers get signed and the magistrate stamps
The legal obligation has dissolved
And so has the need to tolerate each other.
/
Years later they might meet
On the railway station like strangers.
She might see him in a crowd
And quickly avert her eyes
From a past that wasn’t handled well.
He might wish to go to her
And apologize.
I wonder if they will have matured enough
To have a conversation
And realize that parting
Didn’t mean snipping every single connection.
