One Piece Chapter 1110 blows it out of the water with some melodramatic jabs evenly spaced throughout, but before I get ahead of myself, let's get into it 😈"
Notes: "Up first is the cover page displaying an image of Yamato telling Momo that she will be traveling all over Wano. Momo looks hilarious with his pouty look. Probably jealous lol 😂 A note about the title: it can also be translated as 'Starfall' 💫"
Notes: "As crackling black lightning bolts rain on Egghhead Island, the Navy and the pirates all look up in shock at the spectacle signifying the summoning of the other Elders 👹"
Notes: "We get a sweet view of an arrow flying in to hit a Marine ship and zoom out to see some giants and a Pacifista laying waste to the Navy ships from the beachfront 🎯"
Notes: "While the giants move in, the recording of Vegapunk continues as he introduces a coffee invention he created which he claims is the coffee of everyone's dreams haha ☕ that'd be the day. He then asks Shaka how long that took for him to announce his invention to which Shaka replies that it was a measely 3 minutes out of the 10 minute prep time he proposed in the beginning of the recording! 🤣"
Notes: "In the first double page of the chapter, the transformations of the Elders become more apparent as they materialize from the black summoning circles provided by Saturn. Oda gives us my favorite part of any character which is their introduction and lays all the Devil Fruit Planet Cards for us to read. Saturn is the ox demon Gyuuki, Mars is the snake-bird Itsumade, Mercury is the hog demon Houki, V. Nusjuro is the burned horse Bakotsu, and Ju Peter is a burrowing Sand Wyrm 😧"
Notes: "Oda hits us with another double page of the Elders fully formed facing a bite-sized G5 Luffy as they get ready to destroy everything and everyone on the island. 😵"
Notes: Nusjuro kinda stole the show on this chapter with his transformation into his hybrid form. He detected a Pacifista and delivered a freezing slash attack similar to Brook's. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be a blazing slash since the Bakotsu yokai was a burned horse. Either way, Nusjuro displayed a sickening stance after immobilizing the Pacifista, then made his way along the shoreline, taking out half of the Pacifista fleet in one go. 😵
Notes: "Right away, Sanji acknowledges the trouble they’re in and tells Nami over a Denden to leave the island without them as there is no time to waste! 🏃♂️ Just as Mars, in his bird form flies to the dome, Sanji warns her that the monster is making its way towards her and the crew!!! ☠️ Although the Elder attacks the dome, it seems to not affect it because of the force field, while Nusjuro continues to mow down Pacifista 🐎"
Notes: "We shift back to Luffy and the other 3 Elders attacking him one by one. Saturn tries to hit him with poison tipped legs, but is no match for Luffy's incredible dodging abilities. However, Ju Peter begins to dig into the ground leaving Luffy wondering when and where he'll strike. 🪱 Next, we follow Usopp telling Sanji that they have met up with Brook and Lilith and are ready to head out, but also informing that Jinbei and Zoro have not arrived. To which Jinbei replies by stating that he will drag Zoro back if he is still fighting Rob Lucci 🐆"
Notes: "In the next scene, one of Zoro's swords is spinning in the air while the pair comment on the sources of the strong Haki that started appearing. As Jinbei tells Sanji he found Zoro still fighting, Sanji comments that Zoro is being a burden which Zoro overhears and burns up at the comment 🔥 With the speed of a leopard, Lucci launches his new Awakened move Shigan Madara, but Zoro dodges them all, catches his sword that was in the air, and performs the Kokoba Madara Gari finally hunting down the spotted leopard ⚔️"
Notes: "Finally, we reach the last page where the Sand Wyrm has jumped up from under the ground and swallowed Luffy, but before the creature can even move, the giants Dory and Broggy comment on Luffy's nostalgic face not belonging in the dark interior of the worm. As they both swing their sword and ax at the worm, they shout 'Taiyounoko' and cut the worm in three parts freeing Luffy. ☀️ Luffy is surprised to see the old giants arrive on Egghead, but the giants claim that they were too impatient to wait any longer to see Luffy. ⌛
And with that we conclude one of the most intense and awaited chapters we have ever read in One Piece. Not knowing a thing about the Elders kinda drove me crazy. I thought we'd never see their backstories or abilities so I'm pleasantly satisfied.
On the down side, it was announced that there will be a 3-week break from a new chapter after 1111, which is a little unnerving considering that we waited 2 weeks for this one. But I am a firm believer in giving Oda senpai the space and time he deserves so I will bide my time and ruminate on this lovely chapter which he presented us with and I hope you do too.
