Olive Land School fees are paid through December 1st but that doesn’t cover infrastructure support or aid for students so hundreds of students still lack basic supplies like backpacks and the school is currently rotating 1,200 scholars between 7 functioning tents as winter descends.
The school administration sent this video to show you how they’re managing after 2 tents failed in the strong winds and first rains of the season.
With your support, we hope to be able to include additional support in the next school transfer. In order to double their capacity this school year, the teachers who volunteer with this initiative began on a reduced monthly stipend - while it was the same as last year it’s still 1/2 of what their colleagues receive when employed at local schools. As you know, those schools charge the students fees and Olive Land School is proud to be the only FREE educational opportunity in the area. It’s only free to the scholars because YOU have crowdfunded it the last two years. Our goal is to secure the funding so the teachers receive what they deserve, bring in an additional 4 full time educators, hire a full time psychologist for the students and staff, hire a physical education teacher and of course eventually crowdfund 20K for the solar system. We can reach ALL of these goals if 1,200 of our over 20,000 donors would commit to a $13/month subscription so that ALL of the students have monthly sponsorship.
We just want to reiterate that while larger donations are DEEPLY appreciated, we are measuring the sustainability and potential expansion of these initiatives by the monthly subscribers, so pretty please tell all your friends!
If you are not following the school directly on IG @OliveLandSchool yet, please do as they post regularly and witnessing your impact and supporting them directly is everything OOB is about. Solidarity over Charity, every day.
