Psalm 62:6, God and a Lizard

My morning routine is calm and quiet. This allows me to think while listening to the Holy Spirit guiding me to where I need to be and what I need to be doing for the day. I wake up, make my husband and I some coffee, listen to our favorite morning radio and after the hubby goes to work it’s my time to pray, Bible Study and to work on my blog.

I’m sitting outside writing in my prayer journal. I look up and see a lizard on my husband’s tree which means it’s inside the screen in porch and a little close for me. The lizard who we have affectionally named Morty or is it Rick. Any of the lizards around our home are named Rick, Morty or Summer. If you know the reference you get a sticker. I would normally try to frantically try and get it out of my porch. Something told me, “Holy Spirit” to just to sit, listen and continue to pray. I do.

The weather outside is windy and cooler than most mornings. The tree swayed back and forth, but, this one lizard is still on the tree. He doesn’t care he is just living his best life for that moment. It’s just a moment, but he’s not being chased by a bird of prey or being shaken off of a tree because a human thinks he should not be in her space. He got to hang out on a tree because I took five minutes to finish writing in my prayer journal. I figured he got in and he can get out on his own. God gave him a little body that can squeeze through tight places. God’s relationship is exactly this with his children.

God is steady. In my relationship with God is steady when I take care to know him. My relationship with you has been like a lot of relationships in the physical. I get annoyed or angry. I do not understand sometimes why I feel like I’m being ignored. In these human relationships if I step back I feel uneasy. It’s the same with my relationship with God. My life can go through its ups and downs and when I call out to my creator the answer doesn’t always seem obvious. I will pull away. As the lizard stays on the tree during the sway of the tree I should stay as I did watching the little guy sit still.

In my swaying of life my response is of pulling away is the desire of the flesh as God’s will is often not obvious. When I am steady, quiet and watchful continuing in constant prayer and study in gratitude I will see that God is faithful and loving

Psalm 62: 6, “Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”

Amen
