I started hiking in 2008 to wear out my late black Labrador's energy. But little did I know I would catch the hiking bug after my second hike, two months following the first one on Rattlesnake Ledge.
The idea behind One Hike A Week came about in May 2010 while on Mount Washington. By then, the pups and I were hiking nearly every other week. So coming up with a name for the blog was a no-brainer. Uncertain of the new website's goal, I began capturing my adventures with my dogs through pure rambles and rants.
Hiking once a week was never about personal conquests. It was merely an excuse to explore new places in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. With the help of my two companions, day hiking quickly turned into scrambles. Then later, I developed bigger goals by tackling climbing lists.
Soon, other outdoor enthusiasts began to notice the website and reached out for route information. So that's when I realized the blog had become more significant. It later became a useful and valuable resource for other like-minded weekend warriors.
It's been 12 years since the conception of onehikeaweek.com. And today, I continue to chronicle my weekly endeavors with and without the pups: rain or shine.
