Introduction: The Truth Written in the Quran
O Children of Israel, this is not a debate, nor is it political rhetoric—this is divine law, eternal and unchanging. The Quran lays out the history, the decree, and the reason why Jerusalem was lost to you, not by force, but by your own hands.
At a time when God Himself was with you, when Moses stood before you, when the Holy Land was yours for the taking, you rejected it. You refused. You disobeyed. You defied your prophet. And for that, Allah sealed your fate.
Now, in an era where Jerusalem is once again at the center of conflict, the question remains: do you align with God’s decree, or do you stand with the false gods of nationalism and secularism?
Let us return to Surah Al-Māʾidah (5:11-26)—not with emotion, but with divine revelation.

The Quranic Testimony: The Banishment from Jerusalem
Before we discuss what this means for the Jewish people today, let’s first examine the verses themselves. The words of Allah are clear and undeniable.
📖 The Covenant and Its Betrayal
📖 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ إِذۡ هَمَّ قَوۡمٌ أَن يَبۡسُطُواْ إِلَيۡكُمۡ أَيۡدِيَهُمۡ فَكَفَّ أَيۡدِيَهُمۡ عَنكُمۡۖ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ (5:11)
🔹 "O you who believe! Remember Allah’s favor upon you when a people intended to harm you, but He restrained their hands from you. Be mindful of Allah, and in Allah let the believers put their trust."
✅ Key Lesson: Allah repeatedly saved the Israelites from destruction. Despite this, their faith was weak. They did not trust God, even after being rescued from Pharaoh.

📖 The Divine Covenant: A Test of Faith
📖 وَلَقَدۡ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَٰقَ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ وَبَعَثۡنَا مِنهُمُ ٱثۡنَيۡ عَشَرَ نَقِيبٗاۖ وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ إِنِّي مَعَكُمۡۖ لَئِنۡ أَقَمۡتُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَيۡتُمُ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَءَامَنتُم بِرُسُلِي وَعَزَّرۡتُمُوهُمۡ وَأَقۡرَضۡتُمُ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنٗا لَّأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنكُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمۡ وَلَأُدۡخِلَنَّكُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ (5:12)
🔹 "Allah certainly took a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We appointed twelve leaders from among them. And Allah said, 'I am with you. If you establish prayer, pay alms, believe in My messengers, support them, and lend Allah a good loan, I will forgive your sins and admit you into Gardens beneath which rivers flow.'"
✅ Key Lesson: Allah made a contract with them. Follow the commandments, uphold the faith, and victory will be theirs. But what did they do?

📖 The Rebellion: They Rejected the Truth
📖 فَبِمَا نَقۡضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمۡ لَعَنَّٰهُمۡ وَجَعَلۡنَا قُلُوبَهُمۡ قَٰسِيَةٗ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلۡكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَنَسُواْ حَظّٗا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهِۦۚ (5:13)
🔹 "But because they broke their covenant, We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort the words (of the scripture) and have forgotten a portion of what they were reminded of."
✅ Key Lesson:
They broke their contract with God.
They twisted their own scripture to avoid responsibility.
Their hearts became hard, unwilling to obey divine law.

📖 The Ultimate Betrayal: Refusing to Enter the Holy Land
📖 وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ إِذۡ جَعَلَ فِيكُمۡ أَنۢبِيَآءَ وَجَعَلَكُم مُّلُوكٗا وَءَاتَىٰكُم مَّا لَمۡ يُؤۡتِ أَحَدٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ (5:20)
📖 قَالُواْ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّ فِيهَا قَوۡمٗا جَبَّارِينَ وَإِنَّا لَن نَّدۡخُلَهَا حَتَّىٰ يَخۡرُجُواْ مِنۡهَا فَإِن يَخۡرُجُواْ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّا دَٰخِلُونَ (5:22)
📖 قَالُواْ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَن نَّدۡخُلَهَآ أَبَدٗا مَّا دَامُواْ فِيهَاۖ فَٱذۡهَبۡ أَنتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَٰتِلَآ إِنَّا هَٰهُنَا قَٰعِدُونَ (5:24)
🔹 "They said, 'O Musa! We will never enter it as long as they are there. So go, you and your Lord, and fight! We will stay here.'"
✅ Key Lesson:
They mocked Moses, rejecting his leadership.
They rejected divine command to enter Jerusalem.
They refused to fight for the land—choosing instead to wait for others to do it for them.

📖 The Divine Verdict: Permanent Exile
📖 قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡۛ أَرۡبَعِينَ سَنَةٗ يَتِيهُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ فَلَا تَأۡسَ عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ (5:26)
🔹 "Then (Allah) said, ‘It is forbidden for them for forty years; they will wander the earth…’"
✅ Key Lesson:
Their punishment was divine exile.
They lost Jerusalem by their own rejection.

Conclusion: You Rejected the Land, and the Land Rejected You
Jerusalem was never taken from you—you abandoned it. This is God’s ruling, not politics. If you reject it again today, do not ask why the world turns against you.
The divine verdict stands. The land is no longer yours.
