THE MOMENT HISTORY WILL REMEMBER
The last 72 hours have been a moment to revisit history.
Since August 23, the world has witnessed something not seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis — when President John F. Kennedy and Premier Nikita Khrushchev stared into the abyss and pulled back.
On one side of the world stands a president who thinks like Kennedy — and who can deliver like Kennedy.
That president is Donald J. Trump.
THE EUROPEAN PLAN: A CALCULATED PROVOCATION
What the American people must understand is that the European Union executed a meticulously planned campaign to provoke Russia into war.
Over the past 72 hours, Europe and its proxies struck Russian territory repeatedly:
· Oil refineries — including the Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, struck multiple times
· Gas processing plants — including the Astrakhan gas processing plant
· Airfields and military bases — including Millerovo military airfield where a MiG-29 fighter jet was damaged
· S-400 air defense systems — among Russia's most advanced defenses
· Fighter jets and drones — Su-33, MiG-29, Orion drones
· Logistics centers — including Ozon warehouses and a Wildberries hub
· Electronic warfare systems — including the Peresvet-M system in Luhansk
They hit Russia's economy:
· The Amur Gas Chemical Complex — one of the world's largest petrochemical projects, nearing 100% completion— suffered a massive explosion and fire, killing at least three and injuring 146
· The Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery
· The Afipsky oil refinery — struck five times
· The Astrakhan gas processing plant
They made it impossible for Russia not to retaliate.
THE EUROPEAN SUMMIT: A DECLARATION OF WAR
On August 24, Ukraine's Independence Day, the "Coalition of the Willing" convened in Kyiv. Over 30 world leaders gathered.
What they said was telling:
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham declared: "Ukraine will never give up territory that Russia cannot win on the battlefield, and negotiations must start from the line of contact."
French President Emmanuel Macron warned: "Russia will try to escalate against European countries... It's clear that NATO countries will be targeted and the provocations will multiply."
They admitted they knew Russia would be provoked — and they proceeded anyway.
The European Union released another €6.1 billion ($7.1 billion) in military aid. The UK authorized transferring Storm Shadow missile production technology to Ukraine.
Europe was not seeking peace. Europe was preparing for war.
THE RUSSIAN RESPONSE: PATIENCE BEYOND MEASURE
Russia did not retaliate. Russia showed restraint. Russia showed wisdom.
President Vladimir Putin and the Russian leadership demonstrated a level of patience that history will record as extraordinary.
· They did not escalate
· They did not take the bait
· They did not give Europe the war it wanted
Why?
Because Russia wants peace. Because Russia understands the stakes. Because Russia is not a third-world country — it is a nuclear power with legitimate security concerns that cannot be dismissed.

THE SECRET MISSION: KENNEDY'S PLAYBOOK
President Trump did what Kennedy did.
On August 25, CIA Director John Ratcliffe made an unannounced visit to Moscow. A US Air Force C-17A Globemaster III landed at Vnukovo International Airport at approximately 10:04 AM Moscow time.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the visit was for "contacts between the security services" — intelligence-to-intelligence communication.
President Trump opened a backchannel when Europe had closed all doors.
Just as Kennedy sent his envoys during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Trump sent his CIA Director to Moscow. The United States even asked Ukraine to refrain from strikes on Moscow, St. Petersburg, and northern Russia during the visit.
