In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
The story of Adam and Eve using both the Arabic and English verses from the Quran, followed by Hadith at the end for further context.

In the beginning, Allah, the Almighty, spoke to the angels about His plan to create a vicegerent on earth. The angels, in their wisdom, questioned the purpose of creating a being who would bring corruption and spill blood, yet Allah, in His infinite knowledge, responded:
"وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي جَاعِلٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَةً ۖ قَالُوا أَتَجْعَلُ فِيهَا مَن يُفْسِدُ فِيهَا وَيَسْفِكُ الدِّمَاءَ وَنَحْنُ نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ"
"And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, 'Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.' They said, 'Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?' Allah said, 'Indeed, I know that which you do not know.'"

Allah then fashioned Adam from clay, molded him into the perfect form, and breathed into him His spirit, granting Adam life.
"وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ"
"And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud."

"فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ"
"So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."

And so, Adam became the first human, filled with the spirit of life from Allah, a creation honored among all.
But Adam was not alone. To provide him with companionship, Allah created Eve (Hawwa) from Adam himself, as the Quran reminds us:
"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيرًا وَنِسَاءً ۚ"
"O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women."
— (Surah An-Nisa 4:1)
Allah granted Adam and Eve a place in Jannah (Paradise) where they could dwell in peace and enjoy its abundant blessings. He allowed them to partake in all the delights of Paradise but gave them one command:
"وَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ"
"And We said, 'O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.'"
— (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:35)
However, Iblis (Satan), who had refused to bow to Adam and was cast out of Paradise, was filled with envy and hatred. He vowed to mislead Adam and his progeny. He whispered to Adam and Eve, deceiving them into thinking that eating from the forbidden tree would make them immortal:
"فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ يَا آدَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ الْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍ لَا يَبْلَىٰ"
"Then Satan whispered to him; he said, 'O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?'"
— (Surah Ta-Ha 20:120)
Adam and Eve, overcome by curiosity and temptation, ate from the tree, and their shame was immediately revealed to them:
"فَأَكَلا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْآتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ"
"So they both ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise."
— (Surah Ta-Ha 20:121)
Realizing their mistake, Adam and Eve were filled with deep remorse. They turned to Allah, seeking His forgiveness:
"قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ"
"They said, 'Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.'"
— (Surah Al-A'raf 7:23)
Allah, in His infinite mercy, accepted their repentance but decreed that they, along with their descendants, would live upon the earth. He gave them the promise of guidance, so that whoever follows His path will be rightly guided, and those who turn away will be lost:
"قُلْنَا اهْبِطُوا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّي هُدًى فَمَن تَبِعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ"
"We said, 'Go down from it, all of you. And when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance—there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.'"
— (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:38)
Thus, Adam and Eve descended to the earth, beginning the journey of humanity. From their story, we learn about human weakness, divine mercy, and the eternal struggle between mankind and Satan.

It is said in some reports that after Adam and Eve were sent down to Earth, they were separated and wandered in search of each other. After years of separation and seeking, they finally reunited at a place known as 'Arafah. The name itself is said to derive from the word عرف, meaning "to recognize" or "to know," as it was here that Adam and Eve recognized and found each other after their long separation.
While this particular story does not appear in the major canonical Hadith collections like Sahih al-Bukhari or Sahih Muslim, it has been narrated in various historical and tafsir sources.
Story Addition to the Adam and Eve Narrative:
After Adam and Eve descended to the earth, they were separated, cast to different parts of the world. Adam is traditionally said to have landed on the mountain of Sarandib (modern-day Sri Lanka), and Hawwa is said to have landed in Jeddah, Arabia. For years, they wandered the earth in search of one another, filled with longing and remorse, praying to Allah for guidance and reunion.
After an extended period, through Allah's mercy, they were guided to the plains of Arafah, where they finally recognized each other and were reunited. The blessed place of their reunion became known as Arafah, meaning "to know" or "to recognize," as they recognized one another there after their long separation. This place, Arafah, would later become a significant site for humanity, especially during the Hajj pilgrimage, where people gather seeking Allah's mercy and forgiveness, just as Adam and Eve had done.
Conclusion: Your Journey Back to the Garden
You, dear human, are the child of Adam and Eve. You have a father and a mother, whose creation and story are woven into the very fabric of humanity. Your beginning is unique, beautiful, and filled with purpose. Just as Adam and Eve once walked in the Garden of Paradise, so too can you return to that Garden from which you came—if you choose to be grateful to your Lord.
The devil (Iblis), in his arrogance, accused humanity of being ungrateful, convinced that we would fail. But in his pride, he forgot that Allah, the Most Wise, was already aware of his deception long before he acted. Iblis’s story serves as a reminder to every human being that the greatest danger is ungratefulness. His failure was rooted in pride, the belief that he was greater than others, and the inability to accept his role in the divine plan. His downfall teaches us that no matter how high our ranks or achievements, it’s our actions when it matters most that define us.
This world, this life, is a test—a temporary place of trials. What matters is not the heights we reach here, but that we remain steadfast, grateful, and aware of the blessings given to us. We must fight ungratefulness and pride until our last breath, striving for righteousness so that we may return to the Garden, to Paradise, which is our true home. This world is fleeting, but Paradise is eternal.
As we reflect on our journey, it is essential to understand that every soul has its story written before it even enters this world. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that when a child is in the womb, after 120 days, Allah sends an angel to breathe the soul into the body. At that moment, the angel records the child’s provision, lifespan, actions, and whether they will be among the blessed or the wretched. This profound narration helps us grasp the magnitude of our destiny and the care Allah has taken in crafting each of our stories.
The Hadith, found in Sahih al-Bukhari (6594) and Sahih Muslim (2643), states:
"Verily, the creation of each one of you is brought together in his mother's womb for forty days in the form of a drop, then he becomes a clot of blood for a similar period, then a lump for a similar period. Then the angel is sent and breathes into him the soul and is commanded with four matters: to write down his provision, his lifespan, his actions, and whether he will be happy or miserable."
Everything about your life—what you will eat, where you will live, the trials you will face—is already written. But the beauty of this life is that despite this predestination, you are given the choice to be grateful, to return to Allah, and to secure your place in the eternal Garden.
You are part of a story far greater than you can imagine. From your creation to your final return, every step of your journey has meaning. Your role is not to control every detail but to trust in the One who wrote your story, to be grateful, and to walk the path of righteousness.
Understand that you come from a beginning that is filled with divine purpose, and if you remain steadfast and grateful, you will return to where you truly belong—Paradise, the eternal Garden that awaits those who choose gratitude and faith over pride and ungratefulness.
May we all strive to fulfill our purpose and return to the home that was meant for us, where we can dwell in peace, as Adam and Eve once did, in the eternal mercy of our Lord.
A Special Prayer for Humanity:
O humanity, remember there is a garden waiting for you, a paradise promised to those who are grateful and steadfast. We pray that you fight with your last breath against the trials of this world, and may you never forget the countless blessings that God has bestowed upon you. From the smallest to the greatest, every breath you take is a sign of His mercy.
"وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِي لَشَدِيدٌ"
"And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed: 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'”
— (Surah Ibrahim 14:7)
May you be among those who are grateful, whose hearts swell with gratitude at the sight of the sunrise and sunset, knowing that every moment is a reminder of Allah’s glory. Each dawn brings the opportunity to praise Him, and every dusk a moment to reflect on His mercy. From the birds in the sky to the trees swaying in the wind, all of creation praises the Creator.
"تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ السَّمَاوَاتُ السَّبْعُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَإِن مِّن شَيْءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ"
"The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting."
— (Surah Al-Isra 17:44)
We pray, O Allah, that humanity sees Your signs in the world around them and joins in the praise that fills the universe. Let us all become like the birds and trees, humbling ourselves in remembrance of You, glorifying You day and night.
May we walk this temporary earth in patience and in faith, knowing that everything we endure, every hardship, is a step closer to You. O Allah, guide our hearts, protect our souls from pride and ungratefulness, and allow us to die in a state of submission, full of gratitude, with our last breath uttering Your name.
"اللهم اجعلنا من الشاكرين الصابرين, الذين إذا ذكروا آلاء الله قالوا الحمد لله رب العالمين"
"O Allah, make us among the grateful and the patient, who when they remember the blessings of Allah say: All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."
Let our lives be a testament to Your mercy, and may we return to the garden, the paradise that waits for the grateful. Ameen.
اللهم اجعل خير عمرنا آخره، وخير عملنا خواتمه، وخير أيامنا يوم نلقاك فيه
"O Allah, make the best part of our lives the end of them, the best of our deeds the final ones, and the best of our days the day we meet You."
Meaning: O Allah, we ask You to grant us the strength to live a life that is filled with goodness, making the end of our journey the most rewarding. Let the final deeds we perform be the ones that earn Your pleasure, and let the greatest and most blessed day of our existence be the day we stand before You, having returned to Your mercy. May our lives be a testament to Your grace, and may our final breath be in gratitude and faith, securing our place in the eternal garden of Paradise.
