بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْم
My fellow human beings, have you ever looked into someone’s eyes and felt an inexplicable connection—something deeper than words, more lasting than a moment? You sensed something there, something alive, something real. You were right. You were looking at the soul, a glimpse of eternity wrapped in the fragile shell of this world.
From an Islamic perspective, you are not defined by your skin color, nationality, or possessions. You are not the roles you play or the names you wear. You are, above all, a soul—a creation from the realm of light, shaped by the hand of the Creator Himself. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once likened this life to a brief pause under the shade of a tree, a momentary rest before continuing the journey. You, my dear reader, are that traveler, pausing briefly in this world before rising again to continue toward your ultimate destination.
The Quran tells us that your story began long before you entered this world:
> “And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam—from their loins—their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying], ‘Am I not your Lord?’ They said, ‘Yes, we have testified.’” (Quran, 7:172)
In that moment of testimony, you pledged to recognize Allah as your Lord, long before your body was formed, long before you were named or given an identity. You came from a world without time, where souls were bathed in divine light, where there was no sin, no death—only the presence of the Creator. This world you now inhabit is a temporary stop, filled with choices, tests, and the echoes of a forgotten promise.
> “He has succeeded who purifies it, and he has failed who instills it [with corruption].” (Quran, 91:9-10)
Your soul is meant to be refined here, amidst the struggles of right and wrong, love and loss, truth and deception. It is a journey of rediscovering that initial promise, of choosing the path that leads back to your Creator.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once shared a divine secret, a Hadith Qudsi that speaks of the soul’s yearning for divine proximity:
> “My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees…”
This is the call of your soul, not just to live but to return, not just to survive but to fulfill the promise you made long before the stars were born. Your life, my dear traveler, is not an aimless existence; it is the unfolding of a divine story, where every choice, every step, brings you closer to or further from that light from which you came.
So, as we embark on this journey together, I invite you to see yourself for who you truly are: not a body that happens to have a soul, but a soul experiencing this world through a temporary body. You are not lost, nor are you alone. You are on a journey—a sacred, ancient journey of love, of obedience, and of return.
