TWO OPTIONS ARE ON THE TABLE

To the Americans, to the Europeans, to Russia, to Ukraine, and to the world:

There are now two options on the table, and from my perspective they are non-negotiable.

This war did not emerge in a vacuum. NATO expansion, Western involvement, Russian security concerns, Ukrainian sovereignty, territorial disputes, and years of failed diplomacy all form part of the history that brought us here.

Too much life has now been lost.

Too much blood has been spilled.

The world cannot continue pretending that there is no price attached to failure.

OPTION ONE: RESTORE THE RELATIONSHIP AND PRESERVE UKRAINE'S BORDERS

This is the option I personally want.

I do not want the borders of Ukraine changed.

I want Ukraine to remain sovereign.

I want a new diplomatic architecture inside Ukraine that is capable of building a durable relationship with Russia while protecting Ukrainian independence.

That means creating a serious team that can counterbalance NATO influence, communicate directly with Russia, respect the Russian people, respect the Russian language, respect Russian culture, understand Russian security concerns, and rebuild the relationship that has been destroyed.

America and Russia should be able to establish measurable benchmarks for that progress.

The team should be capable of demonstrating, step by step, that an independent Ukraine does not have to be an anti-Russian Ukraine.

It should be able to say positive things about Russia.

It should restore cultural and diplomatic relationships.

It should reopen permanent channels.

It should demonstrate that Ukrainian sovereignty and peaceful coexistence with Russia can exist at the same time.

If that architecture is built successfully, then the territorial question should become unnecessary.

That is the outcome I want.

Ukraine keeps its internationally recognized borders.

Russia receives measurable security and diplomatic reassurance.

The NATO question is addressed.

A functioning Russia-Ukraine relationship is rebuilt.

And everybody gets to move forward.

OPTION TWO: TERRITORIAL CONCESSIONS AND AN END TO THE WAR

If Ukraine and its European partners refuse to build that environment, then the territorial question becomes the alternative.

The territories Russia currently occupies become part of the settlement negotiations.

The Europeans and Americans cannot indefinitely reject every Russian demand, reject every territorial compromise, reject changes in Ukrainian diplomatic strategy, reject neutrality arrangements, and then expect the battlefield to somehow produce peace by itself.

If no political relationship can be rebuilt, then concessions become the price of ending the war.

That is not my preferred outcome.

My preferred outcome is still an intact Ukraine.

But the world cannot reject both options.

THE CENTRAL QUESTION FOR PRESIDENT ZELENSKY

President Zelensky, this is where I believe the responsibility falls heavily on you.

If you reject territorial concessions, then you must provide another pathway.

Build the team.

Change the diplomatic environment.

Create a Russia policy that is capable of producing coexistence.

Demonstrate respect for Russia's people, language, culture, and government while continuing to protect Ukrainian sovereignty.

Show Russia that Ukraine can remain independent without becoming a permanent platform for confrontation.

If you reject that approach as well, then tell the world what your pathway to peace actually is.

Because simply saying no to territorial concessions while also refusing a fundamentally different relationship with Russia does not produce a settlement.

It produces another year of war.

And another.

And another.

TO RUSSIA

Russia should explain its position to its own population and to the world carefully, clearly, and without unnecessary insults.

State what would make the territorial issue negotiable.

State what security arrangements would be sufficient.

State what kind of Ukrainian government-to-government relationship would allow normalization.

State what measurable changes would permit Russia to accept a sovereign Ukraine without further territorial claims.

Put those requirements in writing.

Give the world something that can actually be negotiated.

TO EUROPE AND THE UNITED STATES

Europe and the United States also need to decide what they are prepared to support.

If the objective is preservation of Ukraine's borders, then help construct the diplomatic environment required to make that possible.

If that cannot be achieved, then be prepared to negotiate the territorial consequences of this war.

What cannot continue is an endless cycle in which every compromise is rejected while the casualties continue.

THE CHOICE

The choice should now be presented clearly:

OPTION ONE

Preserve Ukraine's borders.

Build a new Ukrainian diplomatic team.

Restore Russia-Ukraine relations.

Address security concerns.

Reduce the confrontation surrounding NATO.

Create measurable benchmarks.

Normalize relations.

End the territorial dispute through a new political relationship.

OR

OPTION TWO

Negotiate territorial concessions.

Establish the borders of a settlement.

Stop the fighting.

Sign the agreement.

End the war.

I want Option One.

I want Ukraine intact.

I want Russia secure.

I want the Russian and Ukrainian peoples to have a functioning relationship again.

I want a Ukrainian government capable of defending its independence while simultaneously maintaining respectful relations with Moscow.

But someone has to build that architecture.

If President Zelensky will not do it, then Ukraine needs people who will.

The world deserves a clear answer:

If you will not trade territory for peace, then build the relationship that makes territorial concessions unnecessary.

That is the choice.

Put it on the table.

Put it in writing.

Measure it.

And move the world toward peace.
