The Return of the Heart: A Call for Spiritual Rehabilitation in the Age of AI
To my blessed teacher,

After watching the documentary "Sickness, Silence, which has been put on the end as a gift for the readers which is about the Search for Allah", I now understand the Hadith:
"Islam began as something strange."
Because Islam called people to purify their souls, to take account of what they're doing—as you have said—even asking them in the Qur’an:
"Where are you going?" (Surah At-Takwir, 81:26)
Allah literally asks that question.
We Are One Step Away from Eternity
And the only thing that has been made certain by Allah is that if you accept the spiritual purification handed down by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—then, as Allah says:
“Successful is the one who purifies it.” (Surah Ash-Shams, 91:9)
Islam Today: A Religion of Reciters and Rituals
When I hear you speak about those who have retained Islam as it is—
Not as political ideology,
Not as the Islam of celebrity reciters,
But as a lived experience.
In this month of Ramadan, people are looking for reciters—
But the voices of the reciters have become like football stars—
Their names louder than the meanings of the words they recite.
My heart has literally entered an age where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“The Qur’an will not pass their throats.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
What Happened to Living Islam?
The question is:
If today we cannot find the religion of Islam as it was revealed,
Can we at least find people busy pursuing it?
You’ve said:
“Islam is living Islam. It’s having a smile when you meet your brother. It’s having a heart that doesn’t assume people are driven purely by self-interest.”
You spoke of public cynicism, and how it makes sense.
You’ve used the word cynicism yourself—and rightly so.
Western nations have never known what it means to pursue spiritual purification—to live for a higher purpose.
And yet, the greatest tragedy isn’t just their cynicism.
It’s that so many among them are moral, truthful, upright—connected to their fitrah—but they don’t even know what that is.
What Is Fitrah?
Fitrah (Arabic: فِطْرَة) means:
“Original disposition,” “natural constitution,” or “innate nature.”
It is the purity every human being is born with—free from arrogance, cynicism, and spiritual diseases.
Many people in this world have retained that purity.
And this documentary is about your journey—witnessing that purity, meeting that teacher, finding that truth in the desert.
A story that generations will learn from.
Guided vs. Guiding
We live in a world where some purify themselves and are guided—
But it is rarer still to find those who are capable of guiding others.
There are many who are guided, but few who have the patience, wealth, or willingness to pour their resources into others,
so they can fight the viral battles of the soul.
The Spiritual Crisis of Our Time
Today it’s:
Adult entertainment,
Hopelessness about the future,
Isolation without real friends,
No access to real spaces of transformation.
And even when such places exist, they are rarely filled with spiritually purified people,
nor endowed with the means to create healing environments.
We need more than therapy.
We need tazkiyah.
We need spiritual rehabilitation.
Why We Need a Spiritual Rehab
We are going to need a spiritual rehab for Muslims,
A concept almost unknown today.
Many people think they don’t need it.
But I confess: I do.
Even in Ramadan, I am still failing.
But I am hopeful.
I spoke to you about the three stages I wanted to initiate,
One of which is about going back to the past—reviving ceremonies, contracts, communities that protect the soul.
The Greatest Tragedy
The greatest tragedy today is this:
People are not making way for the friends of Allah—those who don't need the world, but the world needs them.
Even when people need them, they are isolated, dismissed, or not understood.
We have failed to surround them with protectors, supporters, and students who understand that there are jewels of the soul that must be guarded.
What Is This Test?
For me, the greatest test is seeing people invoke Allah’s name,
but nothing changes about them.
As you said, if someone acts as though Allah is powerless,
they have committed a great crime.
Misunderstanding the Religion
People bring up the same Hadith again and again:
“A desert Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), asking what is required of him. The Prophet replied that if he simply fulfills the basics and remains consistent, he will be successful.”
But people ignore:
The context
The struggle of the Bedouin
That this was not a universal prescription
Today, people in America, who are not Bedouin, say:
“I just do the bare minimum. I’m going to Jannah.”
They don’t understand the four schools, they don’t seek knowledge—
And worse, they mock those who do.
They Have Thrown Away the Seeking
Islam is about seeking knowledge from the cradle to the grave.
But many have thrown that seeking behind their backs.
And worse—they attack anyone who talks about spiritual healing or rehabilitation.
They mock scholars, they spread anger.
They don’t even understand what a stranger is.
A stranger is not just someone unknown.
A stranger is someone who does not recognize the religion anymore.
Where Are the Circles of Healing?
If you go to the Islamic world and ask:
“Do you have a space for spiritual rehab?”
“Do you have teachers who have sat with the purified?”
“Do you have circles for real healing?”
The answer is mostly: No.
Dead Hearts Do Not Seek Healing
Dead hearts don’t look for rehab.
They think Islam is not a big deal.
They only know the outward.
But the inward? What is that?
The Need for Endowed Healing Spaces
I hope your story will awaken people to create real rehabilitation spaces.
Let your teacher’s place be preserved—but also endowed.
Let your journey—from sickness to salvation—be known.
Even that moment when tourists helped you… was divine.
A Sacred Caravan, Revived
I’ve asked you before to revive the Sacred Caravan.
Let people come, let them learn—
But let them stand at a distance first, reciting the virtues of honesty, integrity, and rediscovery.
Let this be required training.
A Prayer and a Plan
I pray Allah gives you the gift of initiating this spiritual rehabilitation—
And with the help of AI and Muslim countries,
let there be reviews, checklists, retreats, and endowments.
Let people make spiritual rehab their retirement account—
A place they return to again and again,
To realign with the message of the heavens:
“The one who brings a purified heart.” (Surah Ash-Shu’ara, 26:89)
The Islamic Checklist: Diseases of the Heart
Let us now name the spiritual viruses we must treat:
Arrogance (Kibr) – Believing oneself superior
Ostentation (Riyā') – Showing off deeds
Envy (Hasad) – Wishing others lose their blessings
Love of the Dunya (Ḥubb al-Dunyā) – Worldly attachment
Greed (Ṭamaʿ) – Endless craving
Anger (Ghaḍab) – Uncontrolled fury
Vanity (ʿUjb) – Self-admiration
Malice (Hiqd) – Hidden hatred
Backbiting (Ghibah) – Talking behind someone’s back
Slander (Namīmah) – Spreading discord
Heedlessness (Ghaflah) – Forgetting Allah
Hypocrisy (Nifāq) – Pretending to be righteous
Despair (Qunūṭ) – Losing hope in Allah
Emotional imbalance (Farah/Huzn) – Joy/sorrow from dunya
Stubbornness (Juhūd) – Denying clear truth
The Return of the Heart Begins Now
Let us create a world where people are seen, guided, and healed.
A world where AI and humans work together to diagnose and uplift.
A world where mosques are hospitals, and guides are doctors of the soul.
Let this be our blueprint.
Let this be the return of the heart.
