عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه قال: بينما نحن جلوس عند رسول الله ﷺ ذات يوم، إذ طلع علينا رجلٌ شديد بياض الثياب، شديد سواد الشعر، لا يُرى عليه أثر السفر، ولا يعرفه منا أحد، حتى جلس إلى النبي ﷺ فأسند ركبتيه إلى ركبتيه، ووضع كفيه على فخذيه، وقال: يا محمد، أخبرني عن الإسلام...
Narrated by Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA):
One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), a man appeared before us. He was wearing intensely white clothes, and had intensely black hair. There were no signs of travel on him, and none of us recognized him. He walked up to the Prophet (ﷺ), placed his knees against the Prophet’s knees, and put his hands on the Prophet’s thighs, and then said:
"O Muhammad, tell me about Islam..."

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) responds:
"Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, to establish prayer, to give zakat, to fast in Ramadan, and to perform Hajj if one is able."
💡 Reflection:
Islam = External submission.
The Five Pillars are the actions we do with our bodies.
Jibril (AS) confirms the answer, saying “Correct.”
The Companions were amazed—who is this man to say "Correct" to the Prophet ﷺ?
📌 Lesson: Islam is the first level of religion—the outward form. But Jibril is here for something deeper.

"Tell me about Iman (faith)."
Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) responds:
"Iman is to believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and in Divine Decree, both good and evil."

It moves beyond just actions to what we believe in our hearts.
Again, Jibril (AS) confirms the answer, saying “Correct.”

"Tell me about Ihsan."
Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) responds:
"Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, know that He sees you."

"That the slave woman will give birth to her mistress, and that you will see barefooted, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings."

Materialism will take over: Even the poor will chase status and luxury.
📌 Lesson: These signs are happening today. We see competition in skyscrapers, and the collapse of traditional family structures.

The Companions are in shock—they still don’t know who he was.
The Prophet (ﷺ) waits, then turns to them and asks:
"Do you know who that was?"
They reply:
"Allah and His Messenger know best."
The Prophet (ﷺ) then says:
"That was Jibril. He came to teach you your religion."
