Verse 3:153
Arabic:
إِذْ تُصْعِدُونَ وَلَا تَلْوُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٖ وَٱلرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ فِيٓ أُخْرَىٰكُمْ فَأَثَٰبَكُمْ غَمًّۢا بِغَمّٖ لِّكَيْلَا تَحْزَنُواْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا مَآ أَصَٰبَكُمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
English:
[Remember] when you fled and paid no heed to anyone, even as the Messenger was calling you from behind. So Allah inflicted sorrow upon sorrow on you so that you would not grieve for what you missed or what befell you. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُّعَاسٗا يَغْشَىٰ طَآئِفَةٗ مِّنكُمْۖ وَطَآئِفَةٞ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ ظَنَّ ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ يَقُولُونَ هَل لَّنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ مِن شَيْءٖۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَمْرَ كُلَّهُۥ لِلَّهِۗ يُخْفُونَ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِم مَّا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَيْءٞ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَٰهُنَاۗ قُل لَّوْ كُنتُمْ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَتْلُ إِلَىٰ مَضَاجِعِهِمْۖ وَلِيَبْتَلِيَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فِي صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِكُمْۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
English:
Then after the distress, He sent down tranquility upon a group of you—a drowsiness that overtook them—while another group was anxious only about themselves, harboring unjust thoughts about Allah, thoughts of ignorance. They said, “Do we have any say in the matter?” Say, “All matters belong to Allah.” They hide within themselves what they do not reveal to you, saying, “If we had any say, none of us would have been killed here.” Say, “Even if you had remained in your homes, those decreed to be killed would have gone to their places of death, so that Allah may test what is in your hearts and purify what is in your chests. And Allah knows well what is in the hearts.”

Arabic:
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْاْ مِنكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْتَقَى ٱلْجَمْعَانِ إِنَّمَا ٱسْتَزَلَّهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ بِبَعْضِ مَا كَسَبُواْ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٞ

Surely, those of you who fled on the day the two armies met were made to slip by Satan due to their misdeeds. But Allah has pardoned them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.

English:
O believers! Do not be like the disbelievers who say about their brothers who traveled the land or went out to fight, “If they had stayed with us, they would not have died or been killed.” Allah makes such thinking a cause of regret in their hearts. It is Allah Who gives life and causes death. And Allah is All-Seeing of what you do.
