There has been a serious disruption in the economic order that Allah has commanded, particularly in the Islamic world. Over the past century, we have faced unprecedented challenges—whether from technological advancements, the discovery of vast wealth through oil, or the effects of colonialism. Never before in Islamic history have we encountered such a test. Today, we see leaders who, despite controlling vast resources, lack a connection to the Islamic principles that guided the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions. This disconnect is evident when we observe that some leaders and countries celebrate wealth and power while neglecting the traditions and lineage of the Prophet and the sacrifices made to preserve Islam. This speaks volumes about the deeper issues we face.

The Brand Currency System offers a path to restore balance in Islamic banking, founded on principles that avoid the lending of money with interest. This system is rooted in the exchange of goods and services, facilitating trade without engaging in interest-bearing activities. Under this model, credit is issued through a system of coupons linked to the supply chain. Supply and demand dictate the value of goods, ensuring that resources are efficiently utilized and exchanged. Individuals can secure and unlock savings through transactions that synchronize with the market, all without dependence on interest. This is a groundbreaking approach and one that aligns perfectly with Islamic values, avoiding the pitfalls of conventional banking systems.

However, there are challenges to the acceptance of the Brand Currency System among Muslims, largely due to the lack of investment in Muslim scholars and the failure to establish a true separation of powers. If Muslim scholars had been given the independence and authority to engage in meaningful dialogue and hold leaders accountable for justice, we would not face the crises we see today in places like Sudan. The ego and rivalry among leaders have overshadowed the true spirit of Islam. Historically, Islamic scholars worked independently from governments, contributing to Islamic jurisprudence and holding rulers to account. This independence is what gave us the four schools of thought and the rich tradition of Islamic law. Today, many scholars are financially dependent on the very governments they should be critiquing, which undermines their ability to deliver true justice.

What we need is a separation of powers—a concept that is deeply rooted in the Islamic tradition but has been neglected in recent times. This is why I propose the creation of a House of Wisdom and a Supreme Court for Muslims based in the United States, a country that respects the rule of law. This will ensure that scholars are independent from political and financial pressures, allowing them to provide justice that is free from corruption. The Brand Currency System would not just focus on printing money or facilitating trade in the way that conventional currencies like the dollar dominate. Instead, it would create a new dynamic where customer spending and supply-and-demand principles drive the economy, ensuring that individual needs and economic balance are prioritized.

We have seen many efficiencies built into the global market over time, but what remains untapped is the direct connection between customers and the products and services they need. The current system allows for intermediaries—wholesalers and retailers—to increase prices and profit from necessities. This imbalance can be corrected by applying the principles of supply and demand at the individual level, unlocking essential goods for those who live paycheck to paycheck. The truth is, those everyday people—those who drive buses, clean the streets, and work in fast food—are the backbone of the economy. If anyone doubts this, we need only look at what happened during the coronavirus pandemic. When those individuals stopped working, the entire system began to collapse.

In conclusion, the Brand Currency System is not just about economic efficiency—it is about restoring balance, fairness, and justice to a world that has drifted away from these principles. By connecting customers directly to the goods and services they need, and by ensuring that supply and demand rule the market, we can correct the imbalances that have plagued society for too long.
