بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Allah ﷻ says:

وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُۥ شَيْطَٰنًۭا فَهُوَ لَهُۥ قَرِينٌۭ

"And whoever turns away from the remembrance of the Most Merciful, We appoint for him a devil, and he becomes his close companion."

— Qur'an 43:36

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ

"Indeed, they keep them away from the path while they think they are rightly guided."

— Qur'an 43:37

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَنَا قَالَ يَـٰلَيْتَ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرِينُ

"Until, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Oh, I wish there had been between me and you the distance between the east and west. What a miserable companion you were!'

— Qur'an 43:38

Every day, we make time for something.

We make time for our phones.
We make time for work.
We make time for entertainment.
We make time for social media.

Whatever you make time for will have an effect on your heart.

If you make time for the Qur'an, it will illuminate your heart.

If you make time for salawat upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, it will increase your love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and bring tranquility to your soul.

If you make time for the remembrance of Allah, your heart will find peace, your judgment will become clearer, and your life will be guided by His light.

But if you constantly turn away from the remembrance of Allah, the Qur'an warns that other influences will gladly fill that space. Over time, they can pull a person farther from the truth while making him think that he is still rightly guided.

The heart is never empty. It is always being shaped by what it spends time with.

So ask yourself:

What am I making time for?

Because whatever you make time for today is shaping the person you will become tomorrow.

Make time for the Qur'an.
Make time for salawat.
Make time for Allah.

May Allah make the Qur'an the spring of our hearts, the light of our chests, the remover of our worries, and the guide to His Straight Path. Āmīn.
