This letter is not written with anger.

In recent weeks, Somali people have been attacked, framed, and reduced to a handful of incidents in Minneapolis and Minnesota — and these misrepresentations have been amplified by public figures, including Donald Trump.
But this is not a political letter.
This is a correction.
A moral correction.
A historical correction.
A human correction.
Because the world cannot understand the Somali people through headlines.
The Somali story must be told by those who lived it, built it, and carried it — not by those who fear it or distort it.
So, dear world, listen carefully.
Let us tell you who Somalis really are.
I. A PEOPLE OF RESILIENCE — BORN FROM STRUGGLE, NOT PRIVILEGE
Before Somali refugees reached America, they had survived civil war, famine, instability, and displacement. They came here with trauma but also with faith, with discipline, with family structure, and with a work ethic unmatched.
They were not given luxury.
They were not given comfort.
They were not welcomed with applause.
And yet — they began rebuilding immediately.
They entered neighborhoods abandoned by everyone else and reopened shops.
They cleaned streets others had given up on.
They turned forgotten corners of cities into places of life again.
