Do you understand the verse after it?
Do you know why it was revealed?
Do you know how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ applied it?

If your answer is no, then you have no authority to touch this law.
This is not a law for the common Muslim.
This is not a law for individuals to enforce.
This is a divine command revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the context of war, rebellion, and organized crime.

🔹 A Law Meant to Stop Those Who Waged War Against Islam
This ruling was revealed against those who were killing without limit, committing treachery, and trying to destroy the religion.
Even then—even though they were murderers, thieves, and war criminals—Allah still said: “If they repent, leave them alone.”
This is repeated multiple times in the Quran.
If Allah commands mercy for war criminals, then what about a simple Muslim who steals out of desperation?
No Muslim’s hand should ever be cut.
The job of the state is to provide, to suspend laws when necessary, and to create a society where theft is unnecessary.

🔹 Ignorance Has Turned Islam into a Misunderstood Religion
The Quran is not taken from the hearts of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ anymore.
It is taken by ignorant people who pick up a printed book without understanding its context.
They steal knowledge and claim they are scholars.
They read with empty hearts and turn Islam into something barbaric, cold, and cruel.
Someone steals? They rush to chop off their hand.
Who told you to cut their hand?
Who told you that the Prophet ﷺ applied this law without conditions?
Who told you that there was no warning, no rehabilitation, no mercy?
The Quran itself says TWICE—if they repent, leave them alone.
This alone proves that it is unacceptable to cut off the hand of someone who commits the crime for the first time.
This is not a petty theft law.
This is a law of war and high treason.

🔹 A Law for Criminals, Not the Vulnerable
This law is equal for men and women.
It stops those who steal, not out of need, but out of greed, corruption, and arrogance.
But the law itself is not enough.
When people do not fear God, when they do not respect justice, when they do not care about others’ property—
Then, and only then, does this law become necessary.
If someone continues to steal, betrays trust, robs others, destroys the safety of a society, and refuses to change—
Then the law must be implemented on them.

Muslims, do not take this law into your hands.
You do not have the authority.
You do not have the knowledge.
You do not understand its true application.
This law is not for you to enforce.
It is for the state, for the scholars, for those who have wisdom.
Islam is justice, not cruelty.
Islam is mercy, not barbarism.
And if you do not understand the wisdom behind the law, then leave it alone.
