This is the age of the Sophist.

Not the tyrant with an army.
But the man who sells language without truth and persuasion without accountability.

The Sophists Did Not Reject Truth — They Monetized Its Absence
The Sophists were not ignorant men.
They were highly educated, well-traveled, articulate.

Why Hypocrisy Always Dresses Well
Hypocrisy does not survive in crude form.
It adapts.
It learns manners.
It learns humor.
It learns empathy.
It learns the language of progress.
By the time a civilization realizes it is being hollowed out, the hollowing already sounds wise.
This is why Sophists thrive:
After revelation fades
After memory fractures
After discipline weakens
After saints disappear
They do not create decay. They exploit exhaustion.
Socrates vs. the Sophists: The Real Conflict
The conflict was never philosophy vs philosophy.

They always say the same thing:

And slowly, everything dissolves.
The Price of Beautiful Speech
Civilizations fall not because they lack intelligence,
but because they reward dishonesty when it is articulated well.
When language is detached from truth, words become weapons, and meaning becomes collateral damage.
Socrates stood against this tide alone.
Not because he was a genius— but because he refused to sell his soul for applause.
That refusal made him intolerable.
What the Sophists Leave Behind
After the Sophists finish their work:
Institutions remain
Language remains
Power remains
What disappears is trust.
