An Open Letter to the Social Democrats and the Rising Movement

To the Social Democrats, the Organizers, the Activists, and Everyone Who Understands What Is at Stake:

You have already proven that you can win.

New York Mayor Mamdani is not an accident.

He is not a fluke.

He is the product of a movement that refused to be silenced, that refused to be framed, that refused to accept the old guard's definition of what is possible.

You have already shown that, when you follow your own voice—when you trust your own vision, your own hopes, your own dreams—you can change the landscape of American politics.

But the greatest trap is still ahead of you.

The Trap

The greatest trap is to fall back into the hole.

The hole where they tell you that you will never have the spotlight.

The hole where they tell you that you will never have the opportunity to choose.

The hole where they tell you that your dreams are unrealistic, your hopes are naive, your vision is too radical.

The hole where they tell you that you must wait your turn.

We have seen this trap before.

It is the same trap that swallowed every progressive movement that came before us.

They get close to power.

They taste victory.

And then the old guard pulls them back into the fold, promising them a seat at the table—only to discover that the table was never meant for them.

Do not fall into that hole.

The Moment We Are In

We are at a moment of profound transition.

The Democratic National Committee is dying.

It cannot be saved.

It does not want to be saved.

It wants to continue extracting energy from the hopeful and delivering nothing in return.

But we must be smart about how we bring this to an end.

If we separate too quickly—if we attack too harshly, if we burn the bridges too aggressively—the old guard will turn on us.

They will frame us as extremists.

They will call us communists, socialists, radicals who want to destroy America.

We must not let them frame us.

Instead, we must bring an honorable end to the DNC.

An Honorable End

What does an honorable end look like?

It looks like this:

We honor the greats.

We celebrate Robert F. Kennedy, who spoke of love and healing in a moment of national trauma.

We celebrate Malcolm X, who refused to be silent, who refused to be framed, who demanded that Black people be seen and heard and respected.

We celebrate the Civil Rights Movement, the Labor Movement, the Environmental Movement, the Movement—all the struggles that made this party something to be proud of.

We create a museum for the Democratic Party.

Not as a monument to its current corruption, but as a celebration of what it once was.

A place where we can remember the New Deal, the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act.

A place where we can honor the fighters who came before us.

And then we build something new.

The New System

The old delegate system must be trashed.

It is a system designed to control, not to empower.

It is a system that allows gatekeepers to silence voices, cancel primaries, and bury alternatives in legal paperwork.

We need a new system.

A system that is online.

A system that is transparent.

A system where every community has a voice, every perspective is heard, and no one is framed.

I call it the US House Plan.

It is a rough draft.

It is a starting point.

It is a WordPress site that addresses the future, the different roles of people, and how we can build a truly democratic structure.

It is not perfect.

It is not finished.

But it is a beginning.

And it is a model for what we can build together.

What I Am Asking

This is what I am asking of you:

1. Follow your own voice.

Do not let anyone tell you that your dreams are unrealistic.

Do not let anyone tell you to wait your turn.

Your turn is now.

2. Create your own party.

Write your own charter.

Define your own principles.

Do not let anyone frame you as something you are not.

3. Celebrate the past.

Honor the greats—Kennedy, Malcolm X, the Civil Rights Movement, the Labor Movement.

But do not let the past trap you.

The past is a foundation, not a prison.

4. Bring an honorable end to the DNC.

Do not attack it with rage.

Dismantle it with dignity.

Create a museum for it.

Celebrate what it once was.

And then build something new.

5. Do not be framed.

When the old guard calls you communists, socialists, radicals—do not let it stick.

You are not communists.

You are not socialists.

You are Americans who believe in justice, equality, and dignity for every human being.

A Word on Leadership

I am a Muslim.

I am Black.

I am proud of who I am.

If you are allergic to Muslim leadership, if you are allergic to Black culture, if you cannot see beyond your own prejudices—then you do not have to join me.

But this movement will be done under Malcolm X.

Not Martin Luther King.

Not the safe, sanitized version of civil rights that the establishment has tried to package for mass consumption.

Malcolm X.

Because Malcolm X refused to be silent.

Malcolm X refused to be framed.

Malcolm X demanded that Black people be seen and heard and respected—not on the establishment's terms, but on their own.

And that is what we must do.

We do not need to be Muslims.

We do not need to be Black.

But we must have the courage of Malcolm X.

We must refuse to be silenced.

We must refuse to be framed.

So that those who matter—those who want to silence us, frame us, bury us—are not successful.

Because if we do not do this, we will just be a bunch of communist low-lives.

We will just be individuals who get framed by a system that hates us.

And we deserve better than that.

The New Chapter

We need a new chapter.

A chapter where everything is defined.

A chapter where we are not framed.

A chapter where we celebrate the past—but build something new.

This is the new chapter.

We don't need to know exactly where it is taking us.

We only need to know that it is a new start.

That we are finally free from the machine that used us, silenced us, and betrayed us.

The old page is turned.

The new page is blank.

And together, we will write something beautiful.

Let Us Begin

I am the new conversation.

I am the fresh air.

I am the restart.

I am inviting you to join me on this journey.

Not as followers, but as partners.

Not as soldiers in someone else's war, but as co-creators of something new.

Let us honor the greats.

Let us bring an honorable end to the DNC.

Let us build something new.

And let us never be framed again.
