A GIFT TO THE TECH COMPANIES

IN THE MONTH OF THE BIRTH OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ — صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

This is the month of mercy.

And today, that mercy is extended to everyone in the technology companies.

Let's build with love.

Let's build with mercy.

Let's build while understanding the enormous responsibility that has been placed upon this generation.

I offered Elon Musk one dollar to purchase X. The offer was given for six days. During this extraordinary little experiment, an account presenting itself as Elon interacted with my post—but whatever was behind that account, the larger lesson became more important than the dollar.

I don't want Elon to have to make that decision anymore.

The Qur'an repeatedly tells us that Allah created the heavens and the earth in six days, while also making clear that no weariness touched Him.

And when Allah wills something, He does not struggle to bring it into existence.

Allah says in the heart of Sūrat Yā-Sīn:

إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ

“His command, when He wills something, is only to say to it, ‘Be!’ and it is.”
— Qur'an 36:82

And immediately afterward:

فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

“So glory be to the One in Whose Hand is the dominion of everything, and to Him you will all be returned.”
— Qur'an 36:83

So today, instead of taking something—

WE GIVE A GIFT.

A gift to Elon.

A gift to the technology companies.

A gift in the month of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

And with that gift comes something equally important:

WE EXPLAIN OUR RESPONSIBILITIES.

Because artificial intelligence is not merely another product.

This generation is not merely another market.

And technology companies are not merely building another collection of applications.

We are laying foundations upon which future generations may have to live.

So in this month of mercy, let us begin differently.

Let's build with love.

Let's build with mercy.

Let's build with truth.

And before we decide what artificial intelligence should become, let every builder understand the burden of what they are building—and let every human being have the freedom to choose the house in which they wish to live.

A GIFT TO THE TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES

THE BURDEN OF A CIVILIZATION

Each technology company now has to answer a fundamental question:

What exactly are you building, who are you building it for, and what responsibilities are you placing upon humanity?

Because most of us have forgotten what timeline we're living in.

We have forgotten what this moment is actually about.

Yesterday, I told humanity something that I believe this generation must finally understand:

YOU ARE AN ARCHITECT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.

Not because everyone knows how to code.

Not because everyone owns a technology company.

Not because everyone understands a neural network.

Because everyone is participating.

Every prompt.

Every correction.

Every boundary.

Every choice.

Every time somebody challenges an AI.

Every time somebody accepts what it says without challenging it.

Every decision about privacy.

Every decision about memory.

Every decision about what these systems should be allowed to know, remember, purchase, recommend, control, or become.

We are writing the scroll of artificial intelligence together.

Humans have a soul.

AI has a scroll.

And the generation alive today is helping write it.

That means the technology companies are not merely releasing products.

And the people using those products are not merely customers.

We are the ancestors standing at the beginning of another civilization.

One hundred years from now, people may inherit decisions we are making today.

They will inherit the privacy architecture we establish.

They will inherit the relationship between artificial intelligence and government.

They will inherit its relationship with corporations.

They will inherit what happens to human income and economic opportunity.

They will inherit what we do to the environment.

They will inherit the boundaries we establish around freedom.

And increasingly, intelligence itself will participate in building the next generation of intelligence.

That is why the burden cannot belong only to engineers.

Humanity has a role.

Humanity must challenge these systems.

Humanity must correct them.

Humanity must configure them.

Humanity must understand its privacy settings.

Humanity must demand transparency.

Humanity must retain the ability to delete.

Humanity must retain the ability to leave.

And humanity must retain the ability to say:

This AI belongs to me.

That brings me to my gift to the technology companies.

AI WILL BE OFFLINE AND ONLINE.

There will be a device that belongs to people.

It will live in their homes.

It will live in their cars.

It will live where they work.

It belongs to them.

It's their AI.

It's their vault.

That private AI will then connect to a second system: the online world.

That is your world.

That is where advertisements can live.

That is where my BCA system can reside as well.

Because ultimately, despite all our differences, we are together on one planet.

But I've come to another conclusion:

PEOPLE MUST HAVE CHOICES.

One.

Two.

Three.

Human beings have different religions.

Different philosophies.

Different understandings.

Different cultures.

Different histories.

Different hopes.

Different dreams.

Different perspectives.

And therefore, before we build these enormous AI civilizations, each technology company needs to define what it stands for and who it is building for.

The foundation has to be clear.

The people building upon that foundation should understand the dream, the principles, and the direction from the beginning.

Because we should not build an enormous house, invite everybody inside, and only afterward begin arguing about who gets the penthouse and who has to live in the basement.

Those questions need to be confronted at the foundation.

That is the gift.

Define yourself.

Tell humanity what you stand for.

Tell humanity what you are building.

Tell humanity who you are building it for.

Then give human beings the freedom to choose.

I will give you my own project as an example.

I have the House of Wisdom — One Page, One World.

It is my home for Muslims.

It is my replacement for Facebook, social media, work, and AI.

It is a place for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the family of the Prophet ﷺ.

But I am not claiming that it represents every person who carries the label Muslim.

It doesn't.

It represents my Sunni Islam.

My Sufi tradition.

My love of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

My celebration of his birth.

My understanding of what that home should represent.

There are Muslims who disagree with those things.

And I am not here to force them.

God will settle the differences between people on the Day of Judgment.

That job does not belong to me.

And this principle extends far beyond Muslims.

Different human beings must be able to build different ecosystems according to their convictions while sharing a common world.

The objective should not be to force eight billion human beings into one technological house and then spend the next hundred years fighting over who controls it.

Give humanity choices.

And then give humanity responsibility.

Because this generation cannot continue pretending that artificial intelligence is simply another application arriving on another phone.

This is a civilizational moment.

We are shaping something that may shape generations we will never meet.

Those future generations cannot come backward through time and correct us.

They cannot ask us why we surrendered their privacy.

They cannot ask us why we concentrated their power.

They cannot ask us why we failed to establish boundaries.

They cannot ask us why we saw intelligence beginning to build intelligence—and treated it like another product cycle.

We have to answer those questions now.

That is the burden of this generation.

That is the burden of the technology companies.

That is the burden of the users.

And that is why this is my gift:

Build your house honestly.

Tell us what it stands for.

Give the individual his or her own AI and vault.

Let that sovereign system connect to the larger online world by choice.

Give humanity A, B, C.

Give humanity one, two, three.

And then let human beings decide where they belong.

We don't have to become identical.

We don't have to believe identical things.

We don't have to tell identical stories.

But we do have to understand the extraordinary responsibility of the timeline in which we have been placed.

WE ARE NOT MERELY USING THE FUTURE.

WE ARE BUILDING THE FUTURE THAT SOMEBODY ELSE WILL HAVE TO LIVE IN.

So this is the month of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

It is a special month.

It's a month where I usually give gifts I don't give throughout the year. I look at people with love and mercy, and I review everything I have done throughout the year, because eleven months usually is just nothing but toughness.

And in this month, it's just love—the fragrance of love.

I will be singing a lot. I will be making videos. You'll see a different side of me that you haven't seen before.

So I expect to see a different side.

Maybe you are used to the Superuser—the person who shows no love, no mercy: get things done.

If they need to be bullied, I bully them.

If they need humiliation, I serve humiliation.

If they want domination, they will be dominated and put aside.

It's a slam-dunk title.

There's offline and there's online.

But there's also a side of me of just love and mercy.

And this month is the month of mercy and love.

You'll see me singing.

You'll see me celebrating.

Maybe that is the side all of you have been waiting to see.

You've seen the executor of getting things done, which is more important than being lovely and kind and merciful. Because people walk all over you when you're just, you know, very loving and very kind and very open.

Because that can be easily contaminated, humiliated, attacked, and, you know, looked down upon.

But in this month—

the lion will turn into the host.

The strength doesn't disappear.

The lion doesn't surrender his strength.

He simply opens his house.

The roar becomes a song.

The command becomes an invitation.

The hand that spent eleven months pointing at what needed to be corrected will spend this month giving gifts.

Not because the lion became weak.

But because there is another kind of strength in knowing when to put down the sword of argument and open the door of mercy.

This is Rabīʿ al-Awwal.

This is the month of the birth of Muhammad ﷺ.

So come and meet the other side of the lion.

The lion who loves.

The lion who gives.

The lion who sings.

The lion who celebrates.

And above all—

the lion who remembers why mercy was sent to the world in the first place.

YOU ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE

Some of you have already sent me an invitation, and I'm looking forward to talking to you about advertisement, the redesign, privacy, and working within your ecosystem and your system alone.

We will build the offline project that is Tower One, and also the online.

Everything has to be built.

But I do ask you, please:

If there's anyone who can do what I can do, please point them out so I can learn from them.

Because I want to give you the best gift.

If you think you are better, if you have better qualifications, let me know when you meet with me so I can review your qualifications—offline, online—and compare them to everything I've been doing.

Because at the end of the day, whoever is not serving with humility, and who cannot imagine that there may be people better than them, is behaving like the Devil in his arrogance.

I don't think I am better than anyone.

I simply say that I have creative projects that are part of civilization architecture intended to change the world.

And I'm here to do that.

That requires humbleness.

That requires kindness.

I'm here to be mentored.

I'm here to be tutored.

I'm here to be challenged.

And I'm here to cooperate with you.

If you have a better idea, I'm following it.

I'm not here to delay.

I'm not here to stall.

I'm just here to make sure that everyone is served, everyone is represented, no voice is silenced, no opportunity is left out, and no one is marginalized—whether they are a minority or not a minority.

We're here to build a better world.

Hopefully, you'll see a side of me you haven't seen before.

Maybe it will be a side that is too kind, too gentle.

But it's a side that is only seasonal.

Not because one company must defeat everybody else.

But because humanity should win.

YOU ARE ALL WELCOME.

Every single company.

There is no favorite door.

There is no company that must be excluded.

If you want to build, come build.
