🔹 "Allah certainly took a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We appointed twelve leaders from among them. And Allah said, 'I am with you. If you establish prayer, pay alms, believe in My messengers, support them, and lend Allah a good loan, I will forgive your sins and admit you into Gardens beneath which rivers flow. But whoever among you disbelieves after this has truly strayed from the right path.'"

📖 قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنۡعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِمَا ٱدۡخُلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡبَابَ فَإِذَا دَخَلۡتُمُوهُ فَإِنَّكُمۡ غَٰلِبُونَۚ
🔹 "Two believing men who feared Allah said, ‘Enter the gate, for if you do, you will be victorious…’"
📖 قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡۛ أَرۡبَعِينَ سَنَةٗ يَتِيهُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ فَلَا تَأۡسَ عَلَى ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ
🔹 "Then (Allah) said, ‘It is forbidden for them for forty years, they will wander the earth…’"
A Covenant Broken, A Warning for the Future: The Divine Lessons of Surah Al-Māʾidah (5:11-26)
O you who believe! Take heed of the history before you, for the past is not just a record—it is a mirror. In Surah Al-Māʾidah (5:11-26), Allah speaks directly to the Children of Israel, not as an ancient tale, but as an eternal lesson, a caution to every nation that walks the earth.
Divine Protection, Yet Hearts Hardened
They were saved. Allah held back the hands of their enemies, sheltered them under His mercy, and blessed them beyond nations. He appointed twelve leaders among them, entrusted them with revelation, and commanded them: pray, give charity, follow the messengers, and uphold the truth. The reward? Paradise, rivers flowing beneath them, forgiveness, eternal success.
But what did they do? They broke the covenant.
Their hearts grew hard. They twisted the words of revelation, changing their meanings to suit their desires. They abandoned the message, forgetting what they were entrusted with. They lost their way. And what does Allah say?
📖 "Because they broke their covenant, We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their places and have forgotten a portion of what they were reminded of." (5:13)
The Holy Land: A Test of Faith, A Warning for All
Then came the great test: the Holy Land was before them, decreed for them, theirs to enter. But fear gripped them, cowardice bound them, and despite the promise of Allah, they said:
📖 "O Musa! There is a mighty people there, and we will never enter it unless they leave." (5:22)
Where was their trust? Where was their faith? Had Allah not saved them from Pharaoh, split the sea, provided them food from the heavens? Yet when called to action, they faltered. Fear outweighed faith. And because of this, Allah punished them:
📖 "Then (Allah) said, 'It is forbidden for them for forty years; they will wander the earth…'" (5:26)
The Eternal Message: Do Not Be Like Them
This is not just their story—this is a warning to every nation, to every believer. The lesson is clear:
Divine favor is not permanent—it is maintained through obedience.
Changing revelation for worldly gain corrupts the soul.
Fear and hesitation in following Allah’s commands leads to loss.
Their failure was their refusal to act with faith, to move forward despite fear, to trust that when Allah commands, victory is already written.
So, O believers! Do not be like those who hesitated when Allah called them. When truth is before you, do not delay. When duty is upon you, do not hesitate. When faith is tested, do not fear.
