My husband, Mykhailo, is a Ukrainian war veteran who served as a sergeant in the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade, defending Ukraine against Russian aggression. We lost our home in Donbas during the war.

After returning from military service, he was hit by a drunk driver, suffered more than twenty fractures, and spent five years bedridden. Today, he lives in a wheelchair.

We are raising three children in Manitoba, Canada. My husband writes every day, trying to support our family despite his disability. But with winter approaching, heating bills, groceries, electricity, and our mortgage are becoming increasingly difficult to afford.
