About oldmansailing
From the age of eleven, I wanted to go sailing and write about it. Now in my late 70s, that's what I do: My book Old Man Sailing was an instant bestseller (in the Amazon sailing category). In August 2026, I set out to recreate the solo circumnavigation by the great Sir Francis Chichester 60 years before - and write my own version of his book.
To my intense disappointment I was forced to put into Recife in Brazil with a shoulder injury which needed an operation.
So I have paused subscriptions for The Full Ocean experience until I get back to sea.
Indeed, I am told that for a month, I will not be able to type at all (I have tried it with my left hand and it is a disaster. Dictation is no better.)
I will do what I can. Just don't expect too much!
