Sammy is a survivor of criminal and sexual exploitation, her perpetrator was sentenced in 2016 to 35 years in prison after she exposed the Rotherham child abuse scandal with The Times newspaper. She has been an activist for 13 years, raising global awareness, influencing policy and legislation, and exposing government corruption related to child criminal and sexual exploitation, as well as the rights of children born from rape. She is now lead of the Independent rape gang inquiry set up by MP Rupert Lowe.
