Bartering is an old method that people would use to trade goods and services.
Bartering can be traced all the way back to 6000 BC. This is what they used in old times before money was invented. This allows individuals to trade items that they own or services they can provide to be able to get what you want or need.
This system can also help you network with people. Once you know what they have or what they can offer you can trade it off.
In today’s world not a whole lot of people barter because there is money. Which to some people is just easier.
Zach and I like to barter. It’s easier for us and helps us save money to go towards other things.
Recently Zach has traded some maintenance services he has to offer in return of stacking wood or helping cut down some trees and ferns to help clear the property. We have 10 face cords of wood, and with only 2 people it takes a lot of our time up.
One of the best food items you can barter with is eggs. You can eat eggs for breakfast and you can use them for baking.
We recently took on 100 egg laying chickens. They haven’t started laying yet because they are young. We have spoke to some locals about our chickens and talked about trading eggs for produce, bread, and pies, how exciting!
Since we moved to the UP a lot of goods are high priced, especially dairy and produce. This is mainly because of the remoteness and difficulties of transportation. So why not barter to save ?!
Are you going to start bartering ?
