If it’s yellow let it mellow, or you could use a cistern !
A cistern is a tank for storing water.
Our well is connected to the generator, so once we shut off the generator we do not have water. Which is why I choose this title: If it’s Yellow let it Mellow because we can’t flush the toilet at night .
No worries though! Since we have a cistern we can use water. It’s also very easy to use.
In order to put water in the tank you have to turn on the generator and open the valves off of the well water line to fill the tanks.
Once the tank is full you can now turn on your cistern. We step down into our crawl space shut off the bladder tank valve, open the RV pump valve, and connect the pump to a 12v battery.
To shut it off you turn on the bladder tank valve, close the RV pump valve and disconnect the pump from your 12v battery.
Having a cistern has been so nice. If we need to take a shower, wash some quick dishes, water for the dogs, and flush the toilet.
