Back in October 2024, I made a short video on YouTube talking about the untitled Blade MCU movie being removed from the release schedule after the delays.
After making that video, I knew that the movie would be canceled because of the various filmmakers leaving the project and it's rare for a project to continue after being removed from the release schedule, but I kept an open mind.
Fast forward to 2026, the movie is officially canceled. On July 23, graphic designer Justin Claus Harder shared a post on Instagram mentioning the movie's cancelation. Earlier today, Mahershala Ali confirmed the news during an interview with GQ.
At the end, I'm not surprised about the Blade MCU movie's fate, but I'm surprised that it took this long. I feel bad for Mahershala Ali because he was attached to the movie since the announcement at SDCC back in 2019 and only played the role briefly in a voice cameo for Eternals.
On the bright side, Mahershala's upcoming film Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother (directed by Bassam Tariq, who was attached to Blade before leaving the project) looks great based on the trailer and I'm forward to seeing it when it comes out later this year.
