surreal

Feb 01, 2026

this new chapter of my life has me feeling like an imposter in my own life.

the doors i once believed i’d never cross
are now opening in front of me —
and instead of certainty, i feel disoriented.

like i walked into a room
i wasn’t sure i was invited into.

i’m making things happen, yet it still feels unreal.
like i’m watching myself from a distance,
waiting for someone to tell me
there’s been a mistake.

for so long, i didn’t believe i would make it here.
i learned how to survive, not how to arrive.

there were seasons when the weight felt too heavy to carry.
when the fog was so thick
i had to trust movement more than direction.

discipline carried me.
faith steadied me.
and still, i moved forward —
even when i didn’t feel ready.

and yet, standing here now,
inside the life i once begged for,
i feel unfamiliar to myself.

i know i didn’t make it here alone.
my village held me in ways i couldn’t hold myself —
watching my son,
steadying my heart,
reminding me of who i was when i forgot.

but even with their love behind me,
i still catch myself shrinking,
speaking softer,
moving carefully,
as if i don’t quite belong in this room yet.

maybe that’s what growth does.
maybe it stretches us into spaces
our old selves don’t recognize.

and maybe feeling like an imposter
is just the nervous system
learning a new home.
