À propos Nick Adamou
Working hard to make the world better with software.
Hi, 👋🏼 I'm Nick Adamou and I am a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with over 5+ years of experience and a certified expert in cloud-native applications, Python, Java, and JavaScript. I widely promote developer experience, testing culture, and mentorship. I have conducted workshops and mentoring circles; conducted over 20+ interviews; mentored and guided 20+ junior developers. I am passionate about driving impactful technical solutions, with a mission to make the world better through code. Currently, I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin (Space) contributing to groundbreaking space missions as well as the lead maintainer of dotbrains and the set-me-up ecosystem.
🌟 I believe technology can change lives for the better. With over 5.5 years in full-stack software engineering at Lockheed Martin, IBM, Apple, and Fly Blackbird (acquired by SurfAir), I have worked on projects that challenge me and benefit society. My education in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and Cornell College prepared me for success in both startups and Fortune 500 companies.
🧠 I founded DotBrains to improve the world through software engineering. We created a toolkit that automates macOS and Debian Linux setups, reducing setup time for new developers by 99%. This is the kind of impact I aim for—making life easier through technology. To learn more about our work, visit dotbrains.dev.
🍏 At Apple, I led a team that migrated from npm to pnpm, reducing disk space usage by 30% and speeding up package installation by 60%. I also implemented OAuth2 and OIDC protocols, using Spring Security to streamline authentication processes. This role showed how small changes can greatly improve efficiency and security.
At IBM (👀 🐝Ⓜ️), I helped develop financial software like the Global Ledger User Interface Next Gen (GLUI NG), used by over 16,000 accountants worldwide. My work on the Direct File Input Service improved system efficiency, handling over 24,000 documents quarterly. I designed both front-end and back-end processes using Apache POI, Spring Boot, and IBM’s Carbon Design Framework, introducing multi-threading for high-volume requests. I also enhanced the Tekton-based CI/CD pipeline, delivering over 100,000 monthly builds and supporting 250,000 users.
🤝🏼 I'm passionate about sharing knowledge and supporting developers through mentoring and tech communities. I thrive on collaboration and continuous learning. Outside work, I write about my experiences at nicholasadamou.com/notes. The opinions expressed are my own and not necessarily those of my employer.
🔗 I'm always looking to grow my personal and professional network. Feel free to connect via LinkedIn or contact me directly at nicholasadamou.com/contact or [email protected].
