Meditating on Psalm 5: Seeking God Every Morning

We have all experienced God’s goodness in our lives. When we look at His creation, we see how great and wonderful our God is. He provides for our needs, protects us, and demonstrates His love and care for His creation. His grace and mercy are evident throughout our lives. Above all, He cares deeply for His children and desires to have a close relationship with them.

As we meditate on the Book of Psalms, we are richly blessed by the Word of God. Through these inspired Scriptures, we come to know God more deeply, understand His attributes, and discover His divine purposes. The Psalms reveal who God is, what He has done, and how we can walk according to His will. Most importantly, the Scriptures reveal God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ. He came into the world to accomplish the work of salvation, and His second coming will be a glorious day for those who belong to Him.

Today, we are meditating on Psalm 5:3, where David writes:

“In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.” — Psalm 5:3

Godly men and women throughout the Scriptures set aside time to pray, worship, and seek the Lord. King David is a wonderful example of someone who continually brought his heart before God. In Psalm 5:1–2, David cries out, asking the Lord to hear his words, consider his groaning, and listen to his cry for help. He acknowledges God as his King and his God, showing his dependence on Him during times of trouble and difficulty.

David begins his day by presenting his prayers to God and eagerly waiting for His response. His example teaches us that prayer is not merely asking God for what we need; it is also trusting Him, seeking His guidance, and waiting expectantly for His direction.

In Psalm 5:4–6, David declares God’s holiness and righteousness. God does not delight in wickedness or approve of deceit and evil. He desires truth, righteousness, and sincere hearts. Then, in verses 7–8, David approaches God with confidence in His abundant lovingkindness and asks Him to lead him in righteousness.

Like David, we can seek God every day, especially when we face darkness, uncertainty, and difficulties. Our faithful God hears our prayers, guides our steps, and sustains us through His unfailing mercy. His faithfulness never changes, as Hebrews 13:8 reminds us: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

May we begin each day in God’s presence, trusting His Word and eagerly watching for His guidance.

May God bless you all with a blessed Sunday! Love God and love people.
