The ICJ, hope and sanctions

Jul 23, 2024

Hey folks

Does it feel like the end of times where you are too?

In the last month, we escaped a Far Right take over of France (only just) - the predicted future US president started a Nelly challenge (millenials come through) after narrowly escaping a bullet thanks to God's clear intervention (so say his supporters!) - and the UK finally kicked the Tories out only to replace them with a faded version - meanwhile the bombing in Gaza has remained as relentless as ever, as the health infrastructure is decimated and Israel has cut off 97% of the clean water access, while vaccinating its soldiers against polio which is now spreading throughout the Gaza strip. The colonial genocidal handbook is at play, as ever.

I will be the first to admit, it can be extremely hard to be both lucid and hopeful right now.

The ICJ was the glimmer of hope we needed - it confirmed the illegal nature of Israel's occupation, the apartheid regime and set the basis for mass sanctions which it now the turn of everyday people to enforce within their institutions and organisations. Yes, that means you. Since everyone is all DEI crazy, let's start by suggesting rule ONE of being anti-racist is to divest from Apartheid. It's time for every day people to now carry this judgement forward and ensure it is applied in all spheres, whether you're a baker, a banker or a bus driver - none of our institutions can be allowed to continue business as usual.

So please - the relay has started - you've been handed the baton. Now RUN. Run like the wind. Victory to the oppressed. Free Palestine. Power to the people.
