The way I will stress test and QA Music Jotter is by notating various works. Currently, I'm in the process of notating Chopin's 16th Prelude. This is a very difficult score to notate because it has the following:
Ottavas
Slurs
Sustain on/off
Crescendo, Diminuendo
Music Jotter's Engraving
The engraving is not perfect, but I'm fixing issues along the way. The important thing to remember is that Music Jotter is designed for the composition experience, not the engraving experience. This means, we get 100 frames per second on a score like this with instant load times. This is basically the product I wish had always existed.
MusicXML and Lilypond, what does it mean?
Music Jotter specializes in speed and composition, so looks are secondary right now. But I still care about output. This is why all of Music Jotter's output can be represented in data. What you see below, is fully represented in JSON, and JSON can be converted to MusicXML or Lilypond code. Lilypond is one of the best engravers around, so this is a big reason to be excited about Music Jotter.
Playback is unreal
The best part of Music Jotter in my opinion, is that playback is instant (no latency), and it just sounds so good. Hairpins work very well, velocity is color coded which is extremely helpful in testing your score visually. And I even have harmonics during playback. The playback is also highly accurate. For example, the note highlights are not faked, and is tied directly to the midi.
