This was followed by the Voting Rights Act passing shortly thereafter, but as Dr. King said, it didn’t cost the country anything to pass those two laws. The next step was to finally make the Black American former slave class whole – providing them the Reparations and economic floor that was provided the poor whites in the decades before – which would be very expensive.
