What if loneliness becomes familliar?

What if loneliness becomes familliar?

Aug 07, 2026

I used to think loneliness was something I wanted to escape.

Then I wondered…

Had I stayed there for so long that it started to feel like home?

Not because it made me happy.

But because it asked nothing of me.

Loneliness never judged me.

It never expected me to explain myself.

It simply waited.

Sometimes loneliness doesn’t arrive all at once.

It grows quietly.

We get used to eating alone.

Listening to the same songs.

Keeping our thoughts to ourselves.

Eventually, being alone feels normal.

And I wonder…

Have we found peace?

Or have we simply become comfortable with a loneliness we’ve stopped questioning?

Maybe there’s a difference between protecting your peace and hiding inside it.

Maybe that’s why leaving it feels frightening.

Not because we love being lonely…

But because we’ve forgotten what it feels like to belong somewhere else.

☕ I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Have you ever mistaken familiarity for peace?
