Preparing a Brief (faceplate)

Preparing a Brief (faceplate)

Aug 28, 2024

Before booking a commission, I would highly recommend preparing a brief beforehand!

This is to help avoid any misunderstandings (especially if you are looking to commission a nendoroid based off of a real life person) and to ensure the best outcome.

There are many ways you can prepare a brief:

Using Pictures

This way is really useful and easy to prepare, especially if it's a well-known character that has a lot of pictures already.

Using Words

This way might be better if you want an exact replication of the character's expression in the picture, but there are certain traits you want to emphasize or adjust.

If it's based on a real life person or non-anime character

For this kind of commission, I will always ask that you go check the GSC website first and browse through the other nendoroids and compile details of which style you'd like (eye shape, brows, mouth, etc.) The reason for this is because if you allow me to choose what I think would look good, you might not agree and prefer something different. But if you ask to make big adjustments later (eg. not liking the eye shape I chose and wanting a completely different shape), there will be a penalty fine. If it's very minor adjustments (adjust position, make the eye more upturn, change the color, etc), these are fine.

No details

This is not recommended if you are not familiar with my work/style, or if you are very detailed. This is the most minimal kind of brief where you send me only a picture and maybe some notes (eg. facing forward, change eyes to look sideways, add blush, etc). I would recommend this only if the picture is really clear/the character doesn't have a lot of small details/it's a character that already has their own nendoroid.
