๐ป๐ฏ๐ฌย air was thick with the stench of rotting bodies and burning corpses. The sounds of gunfire and roaring laughter were heard from miles away. Bodies dropped every which way while their guts were spewed onto the ground below them, making them gurgle up their own blood before losing their lives. A young woman, no older than twenty-three, stood at the center of it all. Despite the danger that lurked around every corner, the woman stood in plain view, deciding to not hide behind the trenches like her comrades.
A chill wind blew across the battlefield, rustling through the brown, withered grass and whipping at the hem of her torn, bloodstained, combat uniform. She shivered, not from the cold, but from the thrill of it all. This was what she had been training for, what she had been born to do. To be a part of something bigger than herself, something that would change history..ย for the better.
โAh, Musik in meinen Ohrenยน,โ the woman muttered before looking down at her feet. On the ground was a wounded soldier, coughing and holding onto the woman as a last resort. โ[name], Bitte hilf mir!ยฒโ the man below her coughed out, bits of his blood splattering on the ground. The woman gave him a simple smile before shaking her head at the injured male.
โ[name]! Bitte! Holen Sie sich einen Sanitรคter, tรถten Sie den Bastard, der es gewagt hat, mir etwas anzutun, tun Sie alles.. Bitte!ยณโ the man screamed before letting out a slew of bloody coughs. He clutched at her boot, trying to steady himself.
The woman simply stared at the man before pulling out her pistol from its holster and pointing it at the distressed man. His breath that was once ragged and shallow was now fast-paced and short. She stared down at the bleeding man, her lips curled into a grin while her eyes remained the same, cold and empty. Her finger tightened on the trigger as she innocently tilted her head.
BANG!

The woman whistled a soft tune to herself as his body jerked violently from each bullet that went through his skull. The shots were drowned out by the sounds of gunfire and screaming coming from all areas, making his death seem almost.. insignificant. Blood sprayed across her black, platform boot, painting a grotesque pattern that sickened the woman wearing it.
She slightly bent down and pulled out a small, cream colored handkerchief from her pocket. Her eyes glanced at the left bottom side of the handkerchief where the name '๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐' was embroidered in cursive. She smiled at just the thought of the name before using the small cloth to clean the blood off of her boot, hoping that it wouldn't stain.
She hadn't seen nor heard the name Alastor since she was only nine and he was fourteen. Their parents were neighbors, both living in the same apartment complex across from each other. They became friends shortly after [name] had learned of the young man's existence and had been insufferable ever since.
Well, that was until that fateful day.
It was the kind of day that could only be described as perfect. The sky was an impossibly deep blue, with fluffy white clouds lazily darting across it like they were playful sheep. The sun was like a great, glowing orb in the sky, painting everything beneath it with a warm, amber light.
[name] and Alastor were playing outside together in the blistering heat. Alastor was tasked with watching the youngin while her mother went to work the street corner. She'd never forget the grief stricken expression on his face when the police came by and told his mother that a local prostitute had been murdered. Everyone knew exactly who the police was talking about, except for [name].
All [name] knew was that she had to stay with Alastor and his mother until her father came to get her from Germany. For days, she had asked Alastor where her mother was. She had begged to know that her mother was safe and sound or she at least wanted to know of her whereabouts. Alastor refused to tell her lies and would avoid the questions every time they were asked. His mother did the same.
Alastor was.. somewhat happy that her mother was gone. He never liked how protective she was of her daughter or how she didn't approve of Alastor being [name]'s friend. [name]'s mother always thought that Alastor was too old and that [name] deserved more friends that were around her age. Alistair didn't like that one bit.
What Alastor did like is that [name] was staying with them for the time being. Even if it was for a little while, he loved their little sleepovers and cuddle sessions that she would practically have to beg him for. She was like a little puppy to him, running around, wagging her little tail, and barking at the smallest of things. He wished that she would stay with him until death did them part.
He also wished that it didn't turn out to be wishful thinking in the end.
Just fourteen hours later, [name]'s father had arrived. [name] remembers the lump she felt in her throat when he told her that not only was her mother gone that entire time, but that she was going to Germany with him and had to leave her friend, Alastor, behind.ย
She tried to stop herself from crying because she didn't want to seem like a baby in front of Alastor, but the tears just kept coming, one right after the other. Alastor had spent the entire day attempting to cheer her up, but nothing worked. His mother even cooked her favorite meal, Jambalaya with garlic butter biscuits as a side.
Still, nothing seemed to dry the poor girls tears.
Then, it was time for her to leave. Alastor's mother helped her pack up all of her clothing and small keepsakes that reminded [name] of her mother. However, before she had left, Alastor had slipped a handkerchief that his mother made him into her suitcase. He wanted her to remember him so that when they met again in the near future, she could be able to give it back.
During the harsh realities of war, the only things able to make [name] feel more human was the radio her Sergeant let her keep and the handkerchief Alastor had given her. The radio seemed to only play one broadcast, but that didn't bother [name] one bit.
Every day, that same broadcast would play, and a more than familiar voice would fill the tent that [name] was sleeping in. The static would strain her ears, but she was fine with it.. as long as she could hear his voice.
He did sound a bit different. Yeah, it had been years since she had seen the man, so of course his voice would be more mature than usual, but something about his voice made her feel a bit more eerie and distant than usual.
It was fine with her, though. As long as she could hear his voice, she didn't care how creepy it made her feel and how her heart raced every time she heard it.
Some days, she'd go into these.. fitsย that would last for hours on end. It would range from her screaming at her comrades to her throwing knives at whoever pissed her off the most that day. The only things able to make her feel better were hearing Alastor's calming yet strange voice on the radio and feeling the familiar texture of the delicate handkerchief between her blistered fingers.
As [name] let out at content sigh, lost in thought, she suddenly felt an inexplicable urge to dodge. It was as if some invisible force were pushing her, guiding her movements. Without even realizing what she was doing, she immediately ducked down, narrowly avoiding a bullet that was aimed directly at her.
She quickly glanced around, her heart pounding against her ribs and her senses on high alert. Spotting a wounded soldier with a gun in his hands, she quickly sauntered over, a smirk growing onto her face.
Before he had a chance to reload, a shoe had suddenly stepped on his hand, crushing it between her platform and the floor. He screams out in pain, making [name] chuckle at the sound. โDu hast Glรผck gehabt,โดโ she giggled, stepping harder onto the man's hand.
โIch werde nicht zulassen, dass es noch einmal passiert,โตโ she finished before, yet again, pulling out her gun from its holster. The soldier's breath comes out in ragged gasps, looked up at her with wide, frightened eyes as she points the gun at him.
Her finger curls around the trigger, ready to squeeze it at any moment, but she hesitates when the man beneath her starts to let out uncontrollable sobs. He's hardly a threat at this point. Curiosity gets the better of her, and she lowers her weapon slowly.
It's not like she's going to give him mercy, oh HELL no. She just wanted to hear his last words before his inevitable death. Oh, and she also wanted him to suffer for a bit longer.
The soldier, taking advantage of her momentary distraction, pulls out a grenade. His fingers fumble with the safety pin, and she can see the sweat beading on his forehead. Her heart races, and she goes to shoot him, but it's too late. He yanks the pin free, detonates the striker, and hurls the grenade at her feet.
She freezes up as time seems to slow down. She only has about six seconds until she turns into maggot food.
6
She wondered about Alastor and what he'd say if he knew what her current situation was.
5
Maybe he'd want to comfort her! Hug her and tell her that everything would be alright!
4
Or maybe he'd insult her for hesitating and not shooting him earlier.
3
I mean, all she had to do was pull the trigger. The soldier was injured and disarmed! It was literally soo easy!
2
But nooo! She just had to be the sadistic bastard she is and hear his screams and cries for a little bit longer! And now her life is about to end as a result.
1
She only had one second left of her internal monologue, and all she could think wasโ
โShit.โ

BOOM!

เซฎ( ห ๊ณ ห)แ ๐ฆด เซฎ(ห ๊ณ ห )แ
In the void, there is no light, no dark, no up, no down. There is only an endless expanse of nothingness, a perfect blank canvas upon which life and death, love and loss, hope, and despair are eternally painted.
It is there that [name] finds herself, the woman who was once filled with life was now filled with death. As she drifted aimlessly through the endless emptiness, she could feel her body start to grow colder, and her limbs began to freeze up.
The thought of oblivion, of simply ceasing to exist, once filled [name] with terror. But as she continues to float through the void, she begins to wonder if there is an afterlife.
While her mother didn't believe in a God, her father was extremely religious. His home was filled to the brim with crosses of all shapes and sizes.
He would often take her to church, where she would listen to the priest speak of a loving God who would never forsake his children. She wonders if that same God would forgive her for the many misdeeds and sins that she had committed while on Earth.
As she drifts through the void, she finds herself drawn to a distant light, a beacon in the endless darkness. Curiosity gets the better of her, and she begins to move towards the light, her body weightless and effortless. The closer she gets, the brighter the light becomes until she can finally see that it is emanating from a small, golden door set into the endless nothingness.
The door is unadorned and simple, with no handle or knob. As she floats up to it, she realizes that it is the only thing in this endless expanse that isn't perfectly featureless and indistinct. Her heart leaps with hope as she presses her palms against the cool, solid surface. To her surprise, the door swings open effortlessly, revealing a warm, inviting chamber beyond.
Just as she was about to float inside, a sudden pressure pushed her not only away from the door but also sending her flying straight down. She struggles against the unseen force, flailing her arms and kicking her legs in a desperate attempt to regain control. Her lungs burn, and her vision begins to cloud over as she continues to fall.
Finally, she hits the bottom with a jarring thud, landing on the hard, unforgiving floor.
She lets out a loud groan as she slowly lifts her head, pain spreading all throughout her body.ย โWas zum Teufel,โถโ she groaned out before forcing herself to stand. As her vision begins to clear, she starts to take in her surroundings.
She appeared to be in a largely rural area with an orange-ish red colored sky and many differently shaped volcanoes that seemed to have orbs of lava floating overhead.
She blinked a few times, taking in the surreal sight before her, and then noticed that there seemed to be no people in sight.
โWo zum Teufel bin ich?โทโ she asked before rubbing at her sore arms. She looked at them to see if any bruises had formed and let out a surprised gasp at the strange [u.color] color that seemed to be covering her entire body.
Frantically looking around her body, she noticed multiple other things as well. She had dog-like ears that perked up and stood on high alert. She also had a [t.description] tail that seemed to have a mind of its own, aggressively brushing against her thighs and wagging every which way.
Before she could notice other things about her body, she heard the sound of someone stepping on what sounded like a stick.
She turned around quickly, only to find herself staring at a strange looking creature. The individual was wearing a large black mask with an X, an O, and a smile painted into it. It had wings, horns, and a small, black halo. They also happened to be carrying a large spear.
The two stared at each other. [name], with curiosity and the creature, with hatred. Upon spotting the woman, the creature tightened their grip on the handle of their weapon.
Sensing the hostile energy coming from the creature, [name] hastily looked around and picked up the first thing she saw on the ground.
A broken spear.
The medal part of the spear appeared to be a bit duller than usual, while the wooden part broken in half, making it smaller than it was made to be. But that was okay, because it's not the size that counts.. it's what you do with it.
Seeing [name] take hold of the damaged weapon, the creature chuckled before letting out a loud whistle. Seconds later, multiple people with the same mask came out of hiding, surrounding the woman.ย
โOh, you all want to play?โ [name] asked with a thick accent, looking around her at the group of creatures encircling her. Noticing the attack stance that they all simultaneously went into, she gripped her own weapon with a grin.ย
โThen, lets play~โ
