I haven't announced it on here but I FINALLY GRADUATED!! ✨ (Oh my God yayyy!). Last I mentioned graduation here, I was raffling out two beaded bags to celebrate the milestone that took me five years to reach.
And following the talk of graduation is LAW SCHOOL. And Law School actually costs more than all the money I spent on tuition in my five years of uni combined.
I think that's where I lost my mind.
I'm trying to raise money for Law School, and instead of simply asking you to help me get there, I've decided to make something.
Something VERY big.
I'm calling it PIECES OF US.
The idea is simple:
I'm going to create a giant beaded tapestry made entirely from sentences people send me.
You leave me a coffee (or as many coffees as you can afford) ☕
You send me a sentence.
And I turn your sentence into beads.
That's it.
Your sentence could be something you've learned, something you hope for, something you love, something that makes you laugh, something you wish someone had told you years ago, or honestly, just something you feel like saying.
It doesn't have to be profound. It doesn't even have to make sense to anyone else. It just has to be yours.
I'm not asking you to design anything. I'm not asking you to choose the colours or draw anything.
You give me the words. I'll make the art.
And over the next hundreds of days, I'm going to sit down with my beads (tiny tiny seedbeads I've got to add) and slowly turn all of those words into one enormous tapestry.
I have absolutely no idea how big it's going to become.
And that's part of the excitement.
Because if enough people decide to leave a little piece of themselves, this could become something much bigger than the Law School fundraiser I originally imagined.
It could become a record of all the little things people wanted to say.
One sentence at a time.
One bead at a time.
One very big tapestry.
And somewhere inside all of that, I'm hoping to find my way from:
LL.B GRADUATE → LAW SCHOOL 🎓
Graduating Law School will help me finally become a BARRISTER AND SOLICITOR OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
I'm hoping you can help me get there. I've got nowhere else to turn to but my art.
I'll be documenting the entire journey on Instagram, so you'll get to watch this thing grow from the very first bead.
