Hello, I'm Martin Johannes Nilsen, a software engineer with a passion for building and understanding how things work.
MJNLAB is my personal playground. It is a space for exploring new ideas, software engineering concepts, and side projects driven by curiosity. Over time, it has grown into a collection of tools, applications, and writing that reflect what I am learning and building along the way.
A core part of MJNLAB is the web apps. These are tools I build to be genuinely useful, lightweight, and privacy focused, with most running entirely client side so your data stays on your machine. In a world full of AI slop, I focus on creating the applications I want to use myself, shaped by my own tech stack and character. If others find them useful too, they are free to try, and the process allows me to continuously learn while building things I care about.
Alongside the apps, I write about the things I learn. The tech blog started as a way to document my own journey, but it has become a place where I try to explain complex topics in a clear and practical way. I write not only for others, but also for myself, as something I can revisit when I need a refresher. One of my mottos when it comes to learning is: "It is only when you can simplify a complex topic for others to understand that you truly understand it yourself". That is something I actively try to reflect in my writing. No ads, no paywalls, and no distractions. Just content designed to be easy to read and useful.
