As a NetSuite developer, I encountered numerous obstacles within the platform that slowed down both development and project management. Additionally, I didn’t like having to install multiple extensions just to simplify my work.

Inspired by how several of these tools worked, I decided to create my own extension with the goal of bringing everything together into a single tool and reducing the need to rely on multiple extensions. With that vision, I designed and built NetSuite Full Tools, a comprehensive suite of utilities that enhances the NetSuite experience, simplifying everything from sublist and field management to SQL queries, record inspection, debugging, automation, and many other repetitive tasks, all in one place.

More than a Chrome extension

Although the extension was published on the Chrome Web Store in January of this year, NetSuite Full Tools is not a recent project. I have been working on it for more than a year, and when I started, I never actually intended to make it public.

It all began with small client-side scripts I developed using Tampermonkey. They were very specific solutions for particular needs within my development team. Over time, those scripts kept growing until they became a fairly extensive collection of tools, many of which are now part of NetSuite Full Tools.

At some point, I realized that I had already built a fairly complete ecosystem, so I started researching how to create a Chrome extension and migrate all that work into it. The idea was simple: take what I had already built and make it possible to share it with other NetSuite developers.

There was another problem that had always bothered me: the number of extensions I needed just to work comfortably with NetSuite.

One extension to inspect field IDs. Another to execute SQL. Another for scripted records. Another for saved searches. Another for something else. And so on.

Eventually, my Chrome toolbar had become a mosaic of NetSuite tools.

On top of that, some extensions would stop working when NetSuite released new versions, while others were simply no longer maintained by their developers. This made me realize that having many small tools was not necessarily the best solution.

So I decided to unify everything.

I took the tools I had already created, developed many new ones, and built NetSuite Full Tools around the things I actually use in my day-to-day work and the gaps I had identified in other solutions.

And that is how NetSuite Full Tools was born: a free extension with no payments or subscriptions, packed with a large collection of tools while still giving you the flexibility to enable only the ones you actually need.

An ongoing project

The extension is still actively evolving.

In my work, there are usually periods when I am not assigned to a specific project. During those periods, I use the time to work on the extension, review bug reports, improve existing features, and develop new functionality.

Because of that, you may sometimes see a lot of activity from me during certain periods and less during others. It is simply a reflection of how my available development time changes over the course of my work.

I also want to be transparent about the early stages of the extension. When I first released it in January, it had several bugs. Some users may have installed it, encountered problems, and decided to uninstall it because of those issues.

Since then, I have been continuously working on improving it. A large part of that progress has come from the people who continued using the extension, reported bugs, suggested improvements, and took the time to provide feedback.

So if you tried NetSuite Full Tools early on and had a bad experience, I hope you will consider giving it another chance. It has changed considerably since its initial release.
