I’m Michael Fanone.
Five years ago, on January 6th, I was a DC Metropolitan Police officer defending the U.S. Capitol when a violent mob tried to overturn an election. I was beaten, dragged, tased, and nearly killed. I survived — but the truth about that day has been under attack ever since.
I didn’t walk away from the badge to get quiet. I walked away because the fight got bigger.
Today, we’re living through a moment where history is repeating itself — and accelerating.
- ICE is detaining and disappearing people in our communities.
- Journalists are being threatened, silenced, and targeted.
- Authoritarian politics are being normalized again — led by Donald Trump and the movement that never accepted the results of democracy in the first place.
- Domestic and international conflicts are being stoked for power and profit, not peace or people.
I’m not watching this from the sidelines.
I’m going on the road, in the streets, at rallies, and in communities — telling the stories that corporate media avoids and holding the people in power accountable when they’d rather operate in the dark. I do this work independently because I refuse to answer to advertisers, political parties, PACs, or corporate executives. That independence comes with a cost — and no safety net.
Your support here directly funds:
- On-the-ground reporting from protests, hearings, and communities under pressure
- Travel, lodging, gear, and production so the stories come from the source — not a studio
- Coverage of government abuse, including ICE operations and threats to civil liberties
- Independent journalism that doesn’t soften the truth to protect access or advertisers
You’re not tipping me for content. You’re helping me and my team stay in the field when others are trying to scare us into silence. Trump and his allies want people like me exhausted, isolated, and broke. Your support makes sure that doesn’t happen.
If you believe the truth still matters — If you believe January 6th wasn’t the end of the story — If you believe someone needs to keep showing up while history is being written in real time — then thank you for standing with me.
I fought then. I’m still fighting now.
